Fergen er gratis med både bil, gående og syklende, og stopper innom vakre Lerøy og Bjelkerøy med mye historie fra krigens dager før den ender på Hjellestad, hvor det er dagligvarebutikk og bussruter til Bergen. Området rett utenfor boligen er kjent for godt fiske.
