Qué harás

You will meet Capt Nik at his boat berthed at Gulf Harbour (around 7am). Nik will take you through a safety briefing then explain the plan for the day (Where we will be going and what we will be doing i.e. chasing workups, bottom fishing contours). After feeding the local snapper, stingray and kingfish right at his boat Nik will depart from Gulf Harbour and head to the destination (30mins - 2hours depending where we go). My experience is me and the boat and is $3000 whether one or eight (max) anglers.

Once we have found the bait and/or birds/mammals and fish (snapper Kahawai, gurnard, kingfish, trevally to name a few), we will drift fish using high quality Slow jigging fishing gear with lures (no smelly bait). Once we have caught enough fish (sometimes it is fast and sometimes it takes longer) there is the option to watch go into a secluded bay to swim, have lunch or even walk on the beach.

Around 1-3pm in the afternoon we will make our way back to Gulf Harbour and re-berth. Once safely docked we will distribute the fish and you can take your catch home with you (we also have someone who will come down and fillet your fish for easier transport).

Cheers Capt Nik

Capt Nik Key Nik has held a life long ambition to host and entertain guests from all over the world. This is now a way of life for Nik and he gets great pleasure taking people out into his back yard (the Hauraki Gulf) and showing them the amazing fishery he has grown up with. Nik has been fishing the beautiful and bountiful Hauraki Gulf since a child (over 40 years). He has a deep seated passion for not only sustainable fishing, but being out on the water and at one with nature.

Nik takes pride in showing others what he has learnt over the past 20 years of intensive lure fishing (and especially slow jigging). Nik writes "how to" articles for NZ FishingNews, and fishing reports for Fishing.net. His uses his experience and knowledge to teach others and hopefully get them a fish of a life time!

Cheers Capt Nik (Snap)

Donde estarás

Gulf Harbour is where the boat "Mana Moana" is berthed. We will leave from this marina after feeding the local snapper. We will travel through out the Hauraki Gulf. This marine area has many islands scattered through out it and we will pass these on the way to the fishing grounds. We will see wildlife like seabirds feeding on bait and very often see pods of dolphins and whales making the most of the bountiful Hauraki Gulf.
