A beautiful fully self contained 2 bedroom holiday home in the charming historic village of St Bathans, Central Otago. Built using the traditional method of mud brick with 2 bedrooms (double beds) and a sofa in the lounge that converts to a double bed. A warm and cosy little home with all modern amenities. Ideal for Rail trail riders, families, or a quiet romantic get away from the maddening crowds.
We have created a beautifully appointed cosy cottage to escape the rigours of city life and in keeping with the historical location we used the traditional construction of mud bricks giving the place a vintage look but with all modern amenities inside. The cottage is warm and cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.
St Bathans is in a New Zealand registered Heritage area. The village was once a bustling gold mining town and the Blue Lake was formed when the gold mining ceased. There are many old ruins and interesting historical features that make this little place fascinating. The lake is lovely to swim in during the summer, ideal for kayaking or paddle boarding, and the Otago Rail Trail is nearby. Bicycles can be hired in Omakau (30 minutes away) if you want to ride the trail. the local hotel is the very beautiful Vulcan Hotel which has a bar and restaurant (bookings essential). There is a well appointed little supermarket in Omakau for supplies. The nearest large towns are Ranfurly and Alexandra, and many smaller villages such as Naseby, Oturehua, Opha, Omakau, and Clyde to explore. Queenstown is just 1.5 hours away by car.

A cabin on a hillside made of gold in historic Bendigo, the best-kept secret in Central Otago. Surrounded by vineyards on a rustic landscape steeped in gold mining history. We're 30 minutes from Wanaka, 50 from Queenstown airport, at the heart of everything that makes Central Otago so beautiful and unique. There's much to explore from walks to wineries to a day on the lake and skiing in Wanaka. Pour yourself a glass of Vino on the deck, soak in the panoramic view and you'll never want to leave.
The cabin sleeps two guests comfortably in a Queen bed, with a full sized en-suite, kitchenette, wood burner and modern furnishings. The cabin has sliding doors that open out onto your deck that looks over the panoramic surrounding views. The cabin is architecturally designed to have a small environmental footprint and sit in harmony with the natural landscape. It is perched high on a rocky outcrop at the foothills of the Dunstan Ranges, overlooking the expansive Clutha Basin with its pastoral scenes and enclosed on all sides by dramatic alpine mountain ranges. Your only neighbours are the surrounding vineyards in their ever-changing colours and the resident birdlife. Step inside and you will have all the comforts to help you forget your worries and slip into relaxation mode. The cabin is furnished to a high quality and all essentials are provided for. We are just a phone call away should you have any special requirements. A small kitchenette is provided for basic cold food preparation. It is not permitted to cook in the cabin for the comfort of all guests. You will find a toaster and kettle and a light breakfast, tea, and coffee are provided on arrival. Bendigo is located at the top of Lake Dunstan, in the heart of Central Otago... We are in the middle of nowhere and at the centre of everything! The area has a rich history of pioneer gold mining and merino farming and is best known today as one of the finest Pinot Noir producing regions in the Central Otago. The site is scattered with windswept Kanuka and ancient rock formations that lend the landscape a unique raw beauty. You will probably not want to leave the cabin, but if you do, Bendigo has a variety of activities for everyone. From scenic walks through the vineyards and hills straight from your cabin doorstep to the fascinating mining ruins of Bendigo a short 5 min drive down the road as well as beautiful swimming and fishing spots of the Clutha River and Lake Dunstan a stone's throw. The Tarras Golf Club is a must for anyone keen to try their hand at golf at its most chilled out-think sheep on the fairways! Bendigo also serves as a great base to explore everything else Central Otago has to offer. Want to get out for an hour or two? 15 minutes away in Cromwell, the Cromwell Old Town Area is a lovely spot to grab a coffee and check out the local art scene at small galleries there. It also plays host to an artisan food and craft market most weekends where you can try all the amazing local produce. Cromwell is the stone fruit mecca of New Zealand and if you are lucky enough to be here during the right season you may end up with a Cherry addiction! 5 minutes further down the road is Bannockburn, a striking wine region where you can indulge in an afternoon of wine tasting at a number of great wineries. For a half-day trip we suggest driving through the shear sided Dunstan Gorge to reach the small historic town of Clyde that has an impressive dam, a boutique cinema, and a selection of shops and restaurants. You can hire a bike and cycle part of the world-famous Central Otago Rail Trail as it follows the Clutha river toward Alexandra. The area is has a number of traditional small-town pubs where you can stop for a meal and a handle and get a chance to meet some proper southern folk. For the adventurous (and 4WD capable) the Thompson's Gorge Track will bring you back over the Dunstan Range directly to Bendigo (via a bumpy high country track!) Fully self-contained, private haven, with views to die for, the perfect get away for travellers seeking a peaceful country stopover just 15 minutes drive from Wanaka.
Our newly built cottage is situated on a stunning 12 acre block just 15 minutes drive from Wanaka. The cottage is just a 4 minute walk to the Clutha River which is well worth checking out and perfect for a picnic. Fully self contained with a brand new 4 burner bbq, bathroom, kitchen (sink, hob, kettle, fridge, microwave) wifi and a super comfy queen bed. I have a friendly 2 year old black lab/border collie Ned, who will no doubt come say hi! There is also an outdoor hot tub available for exclusive private use for an extra fee.
This cute cabin is located perfectly for a romantic getaway, very private with amazing views, yet close to all the action if needed, including an abundance of wineries and outdoor pursuits.

Lauder is a small settlement in the Otago Region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located in Central Otago, 8 km northeast of Omakau, on the main route between Alexandra and Ranfurly on State Highway 85. The settlement was named after the town of the same name in southern Scotland, one of many Otago sites to be named after places in the Scottish borders by John Turnbull Thomson. Lauder had a station on the former Otago Central Railway and served as a railway servicing town from the time the rails reached the town in 1904. It remains a popular stopover on the Otago Central Rail Trail. Lauder is the closest settlement to the Poolburn Gorge, a popular sight on the rail trail. The local Lauder Hotel within walking distance is perfect for an evening meal serving wonderful food sourced locally. The Stationside Cafe serves a selection of tasty goodies throughout the day including coffee, ice creams etc.

¡¡Gracias!!

A warm and cosy strawbale home built of natural materials, located in the middle of the rail trail. Beautiful outlook to the mountains and countryside. A few minutes walk to the village centre with store and hotel.
Natural features of stone fireplace, earth and lime plastered walls and timber beams. An author's residence, The Strawbale house has a warm cosy interior, filled with books, NZ Art and retro treasures.
Big open sky, mountains and rocky tors. Historic pub and general store a 5 minute walk down the road. Hayes Engineering museum, a 2min drive or 15min walk or 5min cycle. Oturehua is located half way on the Otago Rail Trail and is a perfect spot to situate yourself to explore the Central Otago area. The most interesting portion of the Rail Trail is located between Oturehua and Omakau. If you are not doing the whole Rail Trail, perhaps consider doing a day cycle trip and explore the historic rail tunnels and bridges. A cycle hire and pick up service can be arranged at an additional cost.

Perfecto.

    Leslie&Phil2019-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Este lugar es mágico. Me encantó camas muy orgánicas y súper cómodas

    Meadow2019-02-24T00:00:00Z

This is not suburbia. Are you looking for a place to get away? Do want to be amazed by starry skies? Can you imagine waking up in the morning and opening the curtains to a stunning mountain vista. If you are getting tired of the bombardment of noise in the city, you will be astonished at the silence we offer.
Warm and cozy, this self contained unit has all the amenities you need to enjoy the stay you want. You can laze in the lounge or kickback in the kitchen. Our place is a great place to unwind.
Breath in the fresh mountain air. Take in the tranquility that a rural setting has to offer. Did I mention the sunrises? Ok I did :-) Stars, not the Hollywood variety, but on a clear night you can marvel at the beauty above.

Enjoy peace and privacy in a unique self-contained space with panoramic views of the Clutha River and surrounding mountains. As there is no wifi available its a great place to disconnect. Situated at Queensberry Hills we are a 20 minute drive from Cromwell and Wanaka and 60 minutes from the Queenstown airport. There are numerous vineyards in the area to enjoy a glass of local wine. If you enjoy walking there are a couple of tracks close by where you can enjoy the river or a good hill walk
Queensberry Hills was formerly part of Mt Pisa Station but was bought and subdivided into lifestyle blocks. Our house sits on the site of the original airstrip from where the topdressing plane operated.

Country cottage set on 10 acres with direct access onto Otago Central Rail Trail. Perfect for a weekend getaway, family holiday, biking the rail trail or just chilling out. She's not historic or luxurious but she is clean and comfortable and the views from the deck across farmland to the Hawkdun Range are just great. Nearby Lauder village offers a great coffee stop at Stationside Cafe and the evening meals at the Lauder Hotel are legendary (but you must book ahead). Twin room can be super King
Brookside Cottage is the perfect place to base yourself to explore the Manuherikia, St Bathans and Maniototo areas and with Queenstown and Wanaka within a 90 minute drive a day on the ski slopes is an option.
The thing that makes Lauder so special is it's country feel. The locals are welcoming, approachable and ready to share their local knowledge with you.

Since the 1920s the Poolburn Hotel has been the meeting place of the Ida Valley. Nestled in the remote highlands of Central Otago, between Dunedin and the Lakes District, the valley is an adventure mecca. No longer a pub, we now offer lodging and guided activities to adventurers from afar. You'll relax in a recently renovated room, with ensuite. Please send a message if you have any special requirements or are interested in some activities.
What adventures are on offer? Some of our favourites include: Biking the Poolburn Gorge Tunnels & Viaduct, the highlight of the iconic Rail Trail. Fishing in the Poolburn Reservoir with a picnic lunch (possibly) including freshly caught Koura crayfish. Mountain bike shuttles on the downhill tracks above the historic township of Clyde. Cross country mountain biking in the rocky terrain of Alexandra or pine forests of Naseby. Horse riding in the valley, made famous by the Riders of Rohan from The Lord of The Rings movies. Standup paddleboarding on the beautiful Blue Lake at St Bathans. Winery tour of the vineyards around Alexandra, home to some classic Central Otago Pinot Noirs.
The pub is surrounded by farmland. The dirt road to the Poolburn Reservoir is bumpy but accessible to 2WD vehicles except in winter.

Capture some delightful NZ Kiwiana in our retro Cascade Caravan (It is in our grassy & treed paddock, on solar, has a private kitchen, compost toilet (15 steps outside & shower in unit)! Limited signal and no wifi lets you be nurtured by nature, STARS, beautiful surrounds, & the rural Tarras haven. Delight in the Lindis River, mountain views, quiet retreat into nature & Self. Come share the delights of our land and home. We love NZ & LOVE seasoning our lives & hearts with our visitors' flavour!
We hunted high and low for a fully self-contained (has a private kitchen, composting toilet and shower) retro caravan to freshen up...resulting in bringing you lovely Cascade! Caravan stays encourage more interaction as they have cosier dwelling spaces. Cascade has a private composting toilet (just outside the caravan door in its own new wee building), a shower and small sink, sleeps up to four (pretty cozy and 3 more optimal, but has had lots of parties of 4), with the main bed featured in the photograph measuring 45" wide by 68" long (or 115cm wide by 173cm long) and the dining area seating cushions can create a second bed measuring 39" wide by 7' long (or 99cm wide by 214cm long). Being a caravan the beds make for comfortable yet cosy/smaller sleeping arrangements, so be sure you are happy for that! The kitchen is fully equipped and we are happy to offer some coffee, tea and miscellaneous food stuffs in the cupboards. Enjoy nature and a technology retreat. Visit our 2 horses, our lovely dog and cat, too. We have lots of room to park (for free!). We hope to meet you soon!
Tarras is a quiet, charming country area about a 30 minute drive from Wanaka or Cromwell, 1 hour from Queenstown. We have stunning walks and parks bordering the Lindis River nearby, bicycles and helmets we can loan, great walking tracks, and recommend the Tarras Country Cafe restaurant for dining as well as the convenience shop next to it. Approximately 30 minutes' drive there is a plethora of dining options and we are happy to offer recommendations for that and/or activities such as walking trails, swim spots, bungee jumping, skydiving, galleries, walking tracks, kayaking, paddle boarding, suggestions for other locations you might enjoy exploring, and more, depending upon your tastes.

6 Ballarat Ave is our Naseby holiday home. As with many Naseby homes this is a simple no-frills crib that will allow you to get out and enjoy Naseby. It is fairly small house with two bedrooms and a small living/dining area. There is a large deck with bbq that doubles as a dining room. A large lawn for games, parking or even tents (just ket us know). NOTE: - We do not supply linen and towels. However there are duvets, blankets and pillows. Washing machine provided.
Large section for playing games. Balcony for soaking up the morning sun. Or you can do that while still in bed! Walking distance to curling, trails, cafe, swimming hole, park, pubs & corner store.
Naseby is a beautiful village with a surprising amount of things to do. There is of course the nearby rail trail cycleway, or more adventurous mountain biking for young and old starting right behind the house, 4 wheel driving and motorbiking in the nearby Oteake Conservation Park. Within walking distance there is also lugeing and ice skating in winter and curling all year round. On a quieter note there is also an information center, two pubs and a cafe within a few hundred meters to stroll down to.
Queensberry Ridge View, near Wanaka, is the perfect spot to rest, star-gaze and enjoy 360-degree mountain views. It’s a convenient base to explore the West Coast, Queenstown, Mt Cook and Tekapo. It is close to Wanaka Airport where you can skydive or fly a plane. Soak in our hot tub under starry skies. Our home is modern and spacious. Note: a 2-night minimum stay applies at Easter 2020 for Warbirds over Wanaka. April 11th and 12th are still available. Enjoy the aerial action from the couch!
Our property is in a special location, with sweeping views of the Grand View Mountains and the Dunstan Range. Queensberry has big skies with lots of stars visible on clear nights (due to low light pollution), so days often begin and end with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The property feels far removed from the bustling crowds, yet is only a 20 minutes' drive from Wanaka, 15 minutes from the Wanaka Airport, 25 minutes from Cromwell and just over an hour from Queenstown. The Mountain Views studio room, with basic amenities, a modern ensuite and separate entrance, has everything guests need for an independent stay. It has a peaceful, homely vibe, which makes it an ideal place in which to relax and unwind. Guests can park their car directly outside the room for ease of transferring their gear. We also have an upstairs room (with a balcony) of our large home listed with Airbnb, under “Mountain Views balcony room, near Wanaka Airport”. Both rooms have mountain views and rural outlooks.
Queensberry is a relaxed rural area, close to vineyards for wine tasting, orchards for cherries and apricots, cycle trails, popular ski fields (an hour away) and Wanaka airport, where you can fly a plane or take a skydive. Historically, Queensberry was a rest stop between the centres of Cromwell and Wanaka, and still is.

Lombardy Cottage is a fully restored two-bedroom two-bathroom stone cottage in a peaceful woodland setting near the historic town of St Bathans. This noted historic building is ideal for one or two couples wishing to enjoy the unique attractions of Central Otago or looking for a relaxing holiday away from it all.
Read in front of the library fire, sit by the creek in the garden with a book or star gaze at the Milky Way from the outdoor hot tub. It is easy to relax in this tranquil place. But if activity is required, there are four bikes with helmets, two kayaks (and life jackets) for adventures on the Blue Lake, and a wee trailer to cart boats or bikes to wherever they are required. (Tow bar needed). And for the cook, there is a barbecue and in-season herbs and vegetables from the garden. The Cottage Facilities ♦ Two bedrooms – each with a king-sized bed (one can be made up into two singles) ♦ Two bathrooms (one with an old-fashioned claw-foot bath tub) ♦ Kitchen with many conveniences, including a bread maker, and well-stocked pantry ♦ Under-floor heating throughout, open fire in library and a diesel burner in living room ♦ Communications – Sky TV, wireless internet, landline (mobile phone coverage intermittent) ♦ 8-seater dining table plus entertaining facilities with fine china, glassware and silver tableware ♦ Restored Victorian-era rabbiter’s hut which is now a garden room ♦ Four good cycles with helmets, trailer with cycle cage ♦ Weber barbecue, outdoor dining area ♦ OPTIONAL EXTRA – Outdoor Kiwi Hot Tub – $50 a gas cylinder

1920's character house on a small rural block. Bedroom with decorative ceilings. Private bathroom ensuite attached with toilet and shower. House is located on the Central Otago Rail Trail, close to the Poolburn Gorge tunnels and viaducts. We have many animals you are able to hang out with and even feed - alpacas, horses, kune kune pigs, chickens, ducks and our dog Poppy. Relax in the lounge and watch a movie, explore the garden and property or enjoy a wood fired bath under the stars.
Our house is historic to the area being built as the doctor's house in the 1920's. We are located close to the Poolburn Gorge on the Central Otago Rail Trail. We have 2.4 hectares with many animals for you to enjoy. Quiet, peaceful country location. Just a short walk to our local cafe and hotel.
A truly stunning area of New Zealand. Lauder is known for its stunning weather. Located over the hill from our house is NIWA the atmospheric research station. There are many historic and scenic places to visit with Lauder being a great base for your stay.

Your own little rural getaway with the most spectacular views. Ideal for a stopover during your holiday or roadtrip; or stay for a few days and take advantage of the scenery, fishing, walking and private river access on your doorstep. We are 25 mins from Wanaka and 15 mins from Cromwell, ideally situated in the middle of the Central Lakes District but away from the hustle and bustle, this little gem has everything you need. Did we mention the views??
The container house is located within a private working farm. It has its own access and everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Ideally suited for 2 people, there is a sofa bed that can sleep an extra two if needed (although ideally this is suited for two children or small adults).
Our farm is located 15mins from Cromwell, 25 mins from Wanaka and an hour from Queenstown - an ideal distance to base yourself to explore the area for a few days or as a convenient stop-over on your trip. You get the best of both worlds - stunning scenery and a private rural getaway, but super close to some of the area's best lakeside towns.
