The Den is a unique space within the Lake District - a Scandinavian style BBQ cabin. A large BBQ pit in the centre to sit around provides a cosy relaxing evening space, and a place to cook! WiFi, Fridge, Microwave, Kettle & Nespresso. Bedding provided, and a heated blanket! 8 minutes by car to Windermere, 5 minutes to Kendal. Easy access to a bus stop and cycle lane. Dales Way very close by. A camping-type toilet and sink (hot & cold water) next to the cabin. Dogs welcome £5/night extra.
Set in 2/3rds of an acre of beautiful gardens with private countryside views. Off street private and secure parking is provided. Toilet is located next to The Den in a separate shed. The sink has running hot & cold drinking water. Please note there are not shower facilities, but the sink with running water is suitable for taking a daily wash.
We are about half way between Kendal and Windermere. The main cycle lane into the Lake District is directly across the road, as is the Dales Way walking path. The Den is in a semi-rural setting with views to the surrounding countryside. For clarity's sake, during busy rush hours there is some traffic noise from the road, but evenings and nights are typically quiet. Please note that we are not the Windermere Camping Site, despite the AirBnB map showing it close by!

  • Matthew fue un excelente y amable anfitrión. Explicó los entresijos del espacio y cómo operar la fogata / barbacoa y el inodoro exterior con mucha claridad. El espacio en sí estaba extremadamente limpio y ordenado, con muchos pequeños toques aquí y allá para hacer una excelente estadía. Cada pequeño detalle ha sido pensado e incluido. Nos quedamos después del año nuevo, así que la cabaña estaba un poco fría al principio; sin embargo, con la manta eléctrica y el calentador interior, esto no fue un problema por mucho tiempo.   • Acabamos de regresar de un par de días increíbles en el Distrito de los Lagos con una noche en The Den. Era algo un poco diferente de la estancia habitual en el hotel y nos encantó poder hacer nuestra propia cena en la comodidad de nuestra habitación. Aunque hacía mucho frío, se proporcionaron una manta eléctrica y muchos tiros, junto con el fuego de la barbacoa y un calentador que pronto calentamos. También tomamos un par de botellas de agua caliente, lo que ayudó. La cama era muy cómoda y el baño era genial. También había (posiblemente sobrante) sal, pimienta, salsas, etc. disponibles, lo cual fue útil ya que olvidé sal y pimienta para nuestros filetes. Ya he contactado a algunas personas para preguntarme dónde nos hemos alojado y definitivamente recomendaría a cualquiera que esté pensando en reservar que lo haga. ¡Gracias a Matt y Yassmine!

    Tommy Bit is our shepherd's hut for 2 in Borrowdale, the heart of the Lake District. Enjoy fantastic views, cook up a meal on the campfire or curl up on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove. Fabulous walks from the hut to the lake and fells.
    Please note, we can usually only offer arrivals on Fridays and Mondays. If you wish to arrive on a day other than Monday or Friday please get in touch and we can check if we can help you. Tommy Bit is our cosy, traditionally styled shepherd's hut in Borrowdale, the English Lake District, which is nestled at the foot of the fells with wonderful valley and woodland views. Shower and toilet facilities are in our barn about 40m away. Glamping at its best! Keep snug in the winter with Tommy Bit's wood burning stove, or cook outside in the summer on the fire pit. Relax after a day exploring the Lakes in our wood fired outdoor hot tub (£25 for exclusive use for a day, please book in advance). We provide tea & coffee and Tommy Bit has a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge inside and a fire pit outside for you to cook up an outdoor storm! Or you can try one of the local hotels for dinner. Bed linen, towels, crockery, cutlery and appropriate cooking things are provided. Tommy Bit has a fold down small double bed (4ft wide instead of 4ft 6), which folds away, fully made up, into a sofa in the day. There is a folding table with stools inside as well as outdoor table and chairs. In case of rain, a tarpaulin can be suspended from wires above the outdoor area. There is a shared room nearby with washer, drier, lots of tourist information and puzzles and games that you can take back to the hut. We also provide all our guests with our 'walks from the door' which we have written ourselves: 12 walks of varying lengths that you can enjoy straight out of the gate.
    Manesty is less than a mile from the Derwentwater lakeshore and about the same distance from the pretty village of Grange, with its teashops and double hump-backed bridge over the River Derwent. The 'Honister Ramber' bus takes you the 5 miles into Keswick (which has the nearest shops) from the doorstep between Easter and November, or the launch runs all-year round, as does a bus from Grange. We're in a perfect location for walks, water sports, touring the villages, or just sitting back to relax! We're at the foot of Catbells, which is well known as the Lake's favourite beginner's fellwalk, but there are also challenging day hikes up Scafell (the highest mountain in England) or relaxing rambles by the lake or in the woods.

  • Este lugar es perfecto! Fui a pasar un fin de semana de chicas con un amigo ... queríamos alejarnos de nuestras vidas agitadas y desconectarnos por unos días. La ubicación es absolutamente hermosa. La pequeña choza de pastores era tan linda! Cocinamos toda nuestra comida en un quemador de leña, calentamos el jacuzzi después de un largo día caminando. Exploramos algunos paseos hermosos con la ayuda de los anfitriones. Caminatas impresionantes desde la puerta. Alan y Cheryl fueron muy acogedores y muy serviciales, sinceramente, no podría recomendar este lugar más.

    Large suite of rooms on the top floor of our Georgian Grade II listed house in Kendal town centre quietly tucked away at the head of an historic cobbled yard. Double bedroom, huge adjoining living room (with basic kitchenette and double sofa bed) and modern bathroom all for the exclusive use of our guests. Free parking.
    Although the suite is part of our house, it is private and self contained with its own access so you can come and go as you please. The suite can comfortably accommodate 4 people with 1 double bedroom, large private living room (28ft x 21ft - 8.5m x 6.5m) with basic kitchenette and double sofa bed and a modern private bathroom. Please note: there are no cooking or washing up facilities in the suite. Crockery and cutlery is provided for breakfast and/or takeaway food and we collect and do the washing up for you when requested! All rooms have double height ceilings with exposed beams, great views across Kendal's rooftops to the hills beyond and plenty of character. The living room has 2 large lounging sofas (one of which opens to a comfortable double bed) a 48" Smart HD TV and DVD player and kitchenette with fridge, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and Aeroccino milk frother, toaster, crockery and cutlery. The bedroom has a double bed, flat screen TV and digital radio. The bathroom has a large free-standing bath with hand held shower, twin sinks, underfloor heating and glass towel warmer. Towels, bed linen, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, universal travel adaptor and hot water bottles are provided. Wi-fi. You'll find a large selection of DVDs under the coffee table and an array of local interest books, leaflets and maps which you are welcome to use during your stay. Help-yourself-breakfast is provided for each day of your stay at no extra cost (homemade bread, butter and preserves, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, local yoghurts, fruit juices, black and herbal teas and a selection of Nespresso coffees). There are ice cubes in the freezer compartment of the fridge. Please take a look at our guidebook for details of local restaurants and eateries we recommend. We own a miniature Dachshund (very small). Her name is Miss Saveloy Sausage or Savvy for short. She is very quiet, friendly and adores children but is never allowed in the suite (she can't get up the stairs - they are too big)!
    There is a superb supermarket 2 minutes walk away that stocks a wide variety of local and specialist produce and has an excellent cheese counter, deli section and off licence. Kendal's bustling high street is one minute's walk away where you'll find plenty of shops, a library, the post office and several banks. There's a Costa on the main high street and Caffe Nero is in the marketplace. It's worth exploring Kendal's historic yards where you'll find many of our more individual retailers and businesses. The market town of Kendal lies just outside the spectacular Lake District National Park, has plenty of pubs, cafés, takeaways and restaurants, 2 museums, a leisure centre with swimming pool, golf course, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre with a theatre, cinemas, art galleries, bars and a regular live music programme (visit the breweryarts website). There are plenty of places to explore with lovely parks (Kendal Castle, Serpentine Woods and Noble's Rest) and pleasant walks along the river Kent right on our doorstep. There is a street market every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmer's market once a month. EATERIES AND CAFÉS WE RECOMMEND: CASTLE DAIRY Visit castledairy.co.uk to book. The Castle Dairy Restaurant and Art Gallery offers a unique dining experience in Kendal’s oldest inhabited building.   • Me he alojado en muchos Air BnBs, y este lugar es sin duda el mejor, el lugar más hermoso en el que me he alojado. Caryn ha decorado el apartamento hermosamente y tiene todas las comodidades que podemos imaginar. Fue genial hojear todos los libros sobre el Distrito de los Lagos que tenía allí, y la hermosa bañera y los pisos con calefacción eran realmente increíbles (y perfectos después de una caminata en la lluvia / nieve). La cocina tenía todo lo que necesitábamos para el té. Café, y desayuno, y el espacio nos hizo sentir como en casa de inmediato. Por último, pero no menos importante, Caryn apareció con unos deliciosos panes que hizo para nosotros, y no podríamos haber estado más encantados.

  • Tuvimos la estancia más maravillosa en la Casa de Color. Desde el momento de nuestra llegada, todo fue perfecto, fácil check-in, una encantadora bienvenida y un hermoso Airbnb. La Color House en sí tiene todo lo que podrías necesitar, incluidos los extras que ni siquiera hubieras pensado, como tijeras para uñas y un kit de primeros auxilios. Lo más destacado incluyó la increíble cafetera, una cama muy cómoda y una gran bañera para bañarse de lujo. Hay un abundante desayuno que incluye un montón de comida local, ¡que incluye un delicioso pan fresco!     My stone terrace cottage is located in one of Kendal's conservation areas and 5 minutes walk to the station, town centre and the river Kent. The cottage is a cosy, quiet, relaxing space with an enclosed wildlife garden at the back of the house.
    The house was built in 1820 as an old weavers house apparently. I renovated it 8 years ago with an open plan kitchen and lounge with wood burning stove. The kitchen has an fan oven and gas hob, fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave, and everything you need to cook meals or enjoy a take-out. There is a small kitchen table and chairs that you can get out and use in the house or for breakfast in the garden. The log burner is a treat in winter with a free supply of wood. There is Wifi and a selection of books and maps, allowing you to make the most of your stay. The bedroom is a good size with a comfortable double bed, wardrobe (with full length mirror inside), chest of draws and chair. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination. The enclosed garden out the back gets the sun in the morning till early evening in the summer so you can sit have breakfast or dinner and watch the bees buzzing around wildflowers, pick herbs for cooking or alpine strawberries for breakfast if there are any left :) There's bike (or general kit) storage out the back or in the cellar should you need it. Also bike cleaning facilities. You will have a parking permit for the local area so can park for free either outside the house or nearby. It does get full late afternoon when residents come back from work so you might have to park in one of the adjacent streets. its fine to load outside the door though. Everyone does it.
    Kendal is an old market town situated in what i think is one of the most beautiful parts of the country – the Lake District. Its also within 30 minutes drive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making it a perfect base for outdoor sport addicts, walkers and sightseers....

    Character cottage in the heart of Bowness. Walking distance from all amenities , yet set back in a private location behind trees. With parking and lovely garden this is the perfect place to explore the beautiful surroundings.
    FOXGLOVE COTTAGE IN WINDERMERE LAKE DISTRICT Foxglove Cottage lies in Bowness, one of the Lake Districts most popular villages, with its many shops, inns, cafes and restaurants leading down to the beautiful lake Windermere. Foxglove cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty and to walk to local restaurants for a spot of dinner and maybe glass of wine or two. The end property of three traditional lakeland cottages, Foxglove Cottage is a short walk from Bowness village and bay and yet remains private, hidden behind trees and shrubs. A shared drive leads up to the cottages and Foxglove is on the far end with lovely private garden to the rear. The side entrance leads into the well equipped kitchen/dining room. A single step leads up to the oak beamed sitting room. The room has comfy sofa and arm chairs, and , of course , the obligatory log burning stove. A most comfortable and cosy place to relax after a long walk in the beautiful surrounding area. A narrow staircase leads to the upstairs floor, on the landing is the first bathroom with bath and overhead shower. A few more steps lead onto the main landing off which there are two bedrooms, one the master double, with en-suite whirlpool bath and overhead shower, the second a pretty twin bedroom. At the rear of the cottage there is a lovely private garden, surrounded by shrubs and trees. there is a dining area where you can perhaps have a barbecue and enjoy a glass of rose in the spring/summer. This is a perfect place to stay for either couples or a small family, where the amazing area of the Lake district can be easily explored and just a short walking distance you can pop out to wine and dine in the evening before returning to a cosy relaxing cottage. The Location The linked towns of Bowness and Windermere lie east of Lake Windermere, where Bowness is at the waters edge, with the town of Windermere set about a half mile away above the lake. Each is a busy community of shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions, serving both the local community and our visitors to the Lake District. Perhaps the biggest attraction is the bay at Bowness, a sweeping crescent of waterfront and adjoining parkland, where you can enjoy a walk by the shore or find a quite place to picnic. At the bay you will find the piers and the famous Windermere steamers, which offer boat trips up and down the ten - mile reach of the lake. Here you can also hire rowing boats and motor powered boats, which can be taken by the hour to explore the lake and it islands for yourself. Other popular attractions are the World of Beatrix Potter, the Windermere Steam Boat Museum and a little south of Bowness the Blackwell Arts and Crafts house, one of the most important surviving houses from the turn of the 20th century. The house is a superb example of the Arts and Crafts movement architecture, where it occupies a stunning position overlooking Windermere and is open to the public as a gallery for craft and applied arts. North of Windermere is Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Center. Set on the lakeshores the main house is surrounded by beautiful gardens where you will find a huge adventure playground, café, shop and exhibitions along with a host of information about the National Park. For visual entertainment you have the Royalty Cinema in Windermere, and the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness, staging a lively annual season of music, theatre, comedy and film. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, where for me the best is by far Jericho’s in Windermere. Owned and run by Jo and Chris Blaydes, the welcome is always warm, the setting perfect and the cuisine delicious. For a good country pub atmosphere there is the Queens Head at Troutbeck, about 2 miles from the main village the inn offers fine beers, good food and roaring fires in winter months. For the big walks and big landscapes you will have to travel a bit further into the park, however there is a good local walk up onto Orrest Head, which begins from Windermere, just opposite the railway station. Anecdotally it was the first ever walk for Alfred Wainwright where the view from the summit was said to have changed his life and set him on a lifetime of fell walking and the production of those much loved walking guides. Also quite local are the fells to the south of Bowness. Although not mountain high, they offer a magical rolling countryside rising above the lake with magnificent views. Travel a little further afield and you much to explore. South of the villages, at the foot of Windermere, is Newby Bridge and Lakeside where the steamers terminate. Here you will also find Fell Foot Park for boat hire, fishing and the National Trust Gardens. East lies kendal, the capital Town of South Lakeland. A host of good shopping, restaurants and a busy cultrural scene with the likes of the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and The Brewery Arts Center. At the northern head of the lake lies Ambleside, a popular town with cinema, pubs, restaurants and huge selection of outdoor and climbing gear shops.     The Lake District is a World Heritage Site, and High Park is located in the most beautiful part of the area. This former farmhouse, once owned by Beatrix Potter, is situated on the Cumbria Way. The views are fantastic and at night, the silence is total. Although your bedroom is quite small, we do offer a King size double bed with a TV and a small fridge. You have your own private bathroom with great water pressure and piping hot water. We cook your breakfast how you like it - just ask!
    We only let one room - with its own bathroom - so you will be our only guests. Your room has a king size bed, a HD TV, a small fridge and free WiFi. Your bathroom has both a bath and shower. A downstairs room is available, both for breakfast and for you to relax in at any time. We work very hard to keep our house squeaky clean too! Extraordinary silence at night, coupled with a true dark sky, make staying at High Park a unique experience.
    We are in a secluded valley, but right in the middle of the Lake District. We offer peace, tranquility - and very importantly nowadays, seclusion. As one of our friends said recently, 'Probably the best view from a garden to be found in England'. The down side of this is that if you are looking for excitement and things to do in the evening, High Park might not be a good choice for you. There are two pubs within reasonable walking distance (20 - 30 minutes) and they serve evening meals and bar snacks. Because there is no street lighting, we are happy to provide you with a flashlight! Both Ambleside and Coniston (approx 5 miles away) offer a wide variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Given the social distancing guidelines, you might prefer to bring a light meal back with you and enjoy it in our dining room. We are also happy to provide you with packed lunches if you wish.

    Set in a quiet converted Mews, the Granary is a cosy, light and spacious apartment with bath and shower, kitchen, dining area, lounge and separate bedroom with king sized bed.
    There is a window seat in the lounge offering a view of Knipe Scar. The private garden has a lockable shed for storage of bikes or other outdoor equipment.
    There is a village store/Post Office a 2 minute walk from the property and two pubs within half a mile. There are lots of other good pubs and cafes between 3 and 10 miles away. Details of these and menus where possible are stored at the Granary. It's a great location for walking. You can access a footpath which takes you down to the river, a quarter of a mile away, without having to go on roads, and there you'll find the peaceful riverside path. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of hill and mountain walks offering great views of Haweswater and Ullswater. There are over 30 laminated guided walks stored at the property, to give you some ideas to get started. There are also loads of great places for cycling and other outdoor activities.

    A charming apartment in a traditional Lakeland house. Ideal for walking, cycling, climbing, rowing, sailing and kayaking. Wide choice of shops, cafes, pubs & restaurants in nearby Windermere & Bowness. Main tourist attractions within easy reach.
    Willow is a located in tranquil woodland with views towards the mountains and fells. The apartment is part of an extension to Pinethwaite Lodge. The original part of Pinethwaite Lodge dates from the late 19th Century. Willow has a bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The kitchen, dining and living area are all in one room with sink, electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, dining table and chairs, settee and TV. The bathroom has underfloor electric heating, a shower, toilet and wash hand basin. A cot for a baby can be provided on request but please bring bedding for the cot (my children are in their mid 20s now!) Willow and our grounds are not 'child friendly', however. I do not provide child proof plug socket covers or cupboard locks. In addition there are a number of external hazards including a pond, stream and stone steps close to the apartment. Your child/children will need to be supervised at all times. I charge a one off payment of £5.00 for the use of the cot. I can provide a camp bed which fits in the kitchen/dining/living room area if the sofa is moved! It is a bit of a squeeze! If you wish to use the camp bed as well please bring a sleeping bag. I charge a one off hire fee of £5.00 for the use of the camp bed. There is a small courtyard by the entrance with table and chairs. Bicycles can be stored in an undercover storage area next to Willow in our shed.
    The Lake District is a year round destination and Pinethwaite Lodge is located near Windermere in the heart of the National Park. Outdoor opportunities are endless: walking, cycling climbing, rowing, sailing and kayaking - all within easy reach and Windermere Golf Club is just up the lane. The main tourist attractions of the southern Lake District are all on the doorstep – Windermere with cruise boats, Beatrix Potter attractions, a cinema in Bowness – and a little further away are the Aquarium of the Lakes, Car Museum, Sizergh Castle and Brockhole Visitor Centre. Bowness and Windermere are within a couple of miles, with a wide choice of shops, tea rooms, cafes and restaurants and modern and traditional pubs. The popular centre of Windermere is surrounded by very accessible vantage points that give glorious views of the surrounding area and lake. Orrest Head, a 784’ hill north of the town, provides one of the finest panoramas – as does School Knott – immediately behind Pinethwaite. Another easy climb is Biskey Howe, a 300’ hill east of Bowness, which has quaint narrow streets and a 15th century church. Windermere, the lake, has fourteen islands, including privately owned Belle Isle with its 18th century round house. Further afield, the list of stately homes, steam railways, lakes and tarns, homes of authors and poets, and fine eating places, is almost endless, all set in the deep valleys and foothills of the Lakeland fells, where some of Britain’s best scrambling and mountain walking may be found. Even in today’s busy world, it is possible still to leave cars and people behind and find solitude in many parts of the Lake District. In addition, Pinethwaite is a haven for wildlife: foxes, badgers, roe deer, and a wide range of birds, from buzzards, to long-tailed tits, warblers, fly catchers, heron, tawny owls and many more.

Traditionally built in Lakeland stone and a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside, Thomas Fold Flat is perfect for couples looking for a comfortable base in the heart of the Lake District. This recently renovated, light and airy basement flat is situated half way between Ambleside and the Lake on the original Old Lake Road. Thomas Fold Flat has an open plan living room and fully equipped kitchen area. For those cosy nights in the living room has a Large 32” Television with a DVD player and Sky TV with Sky Sports package, along with a Small Dining Table, Comfy Sofa and Arm Chair. The double bedroom has a King Size Ded, Spacious Built-in Wardrobe and a TV with Freeview and DVD. The modern bathroom has a Bath with Power Shower over. There is also an inner hall with further Storage Cupboards. This one bedroomed flat has the benefit of a Large Comfortable Sofa Bed in the living room which can be used for flexible sleeping arrangements (additional supplement for bedding may apply). Thomas Fold Flat we provide a free parking permit for the car park just metres away, although there is usually Free Parking on the road outside the house as well. There are 9 steps down from the road level leading to a small courtyard patio area with Luxury Garden Furniture and the entrance to the flat. THomas Folsd Flat also has a separate Utility Room/Bike Storage with Tumble Dryer.

    Due to covid 19 we are currently closed. But when it is safe to open you will find a quiet country hut situated in a private area alongside our family home in Windermere. The hut is crafted with every attention to detail considered. Including a kitchen area and shower room, underfloor heating, a TV, WiFi and a double bed all furnished in a very stylish decor. Through the pretty picture window you can see the outside space complete with Chiminea and tranquil country views. A perfect hideaway!
    Set on a private road, away from the noise, and yet both Windermere and Bowness are only a short 10 minutes walk away.There is a private parking area with plenty of space that is shared with the main house, connected to a small path leading you to the hut. Mountain bikers are welcome to bring and leave bikes in our secure garage.
    The hut is based on a quiet, hidden road, in walking distance to the vibrant Windermere town where there is plenty of places to eat out from Italian cuisine to Thai. One of our favourite places to eat is The Smith a small family run pizza restaurant with a log fire and twinkly fairy lights. If you like your beer and ales the crafty Ba is a friendly place with homely decor and a great ambience, not to mention the most extensive selection of drinks available. We've had many a cheeseboard here! For amazing brunch and breakfast it's a must to visit Homeground coffee and kitchen! And for sunny days I recommend Cafe Italia across the road with outside seating where you can drink cappuccinos and watch the people go by.

    The cottage offers two double bedrooms (one en-suite), a cosy living room with log burner and a private outdoor patio. Situated just a 4-minute walk from Windermere train station, this is a perfect base to explore everything the beautiful Lake District has to offer.
    The living room has a comfy 3 seater sofa and 2 rocking chairs all placed around the log burner which is lovely to sit around in the evening. There is also a TV with freeview and a DVD player as well as a number of books, games and DVDs which you are welcome to use. The living room leads through to a very well equipped kitchen and dining room area with traditional slate flooring. The kitchen has a large range oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle, and all of the pots/pans/glass wear/utensils you could possibly need for a self-catered holiday. The dining room has a large wooden table and 4 chairs. A utility room with washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and dishwasher leads off of the living room. On the first floor of the house, there is a large bathroom with powerful shower and bath and a beautiful double bedroom with an adjoining dressing room space. On the second floor of the house, there is a newly renovated second double bedroom with wall-mounted TV and en-suite. This room also has a window seat with views over Windermere village high street and beyond. OUTSIDE The french doors from the kitchen/dining space leads down to a private courtyard complete with a large table and chairs. The house is also accessible from a back gate in the courtyard which leads on to Beech Street, 50 yards from all the high street has to offer. Designated parking space outside front door. Additional parking spaces available - there are 3 guest parking spaces at the top of the drive. These 3 spaces are shared by the 5 cottages in the close, on a first come first served basis. THINGS TO NOTE Wood burner will get very hot, there is no fire guard provided. Would not recommend use with children in attendance. No stair-gates are provided. Patio area can be slippery when wet.

A parking permit is provided to allow parking in over 40 car parks in the local area and there is easy access to a great network of public transport. However, many fantastic walks and attractions are within walking distance, making this an ideal base for exploring the area. This charming hideaway is ideal for couples on a romantic break or solo business travellers.
    There are so many lovely places to eat and drink on the doorstep that it is difficult to know where to start! The Villa Positano is an excellent Italian restaurant that is at the bottom of our stairs; at the end of The Ginnel you'll find Bodega Bar which does great tapas and across the street there is the famous Vinegar Jones Fish and Chip Shop. All within a minute's walk! If you are prepared to go for a two minute walk, you'll find the two best cocktail bars for miles around. One at either end of Ash Street. The Country Hut is warm and welcoming and does great cider and rum punch, the Fizzy Tart is glamorous and upmarket. There are tons of places beyond Ash Street and discovering them is a joy in itself, so I won't spoil it for you!

    ***January to March, Discounts available, please ask.*** It is an easy walk from the train and bus station to our ground floor flat.You will have sole occupancy. It's tucked away in a secluded sunny spot, yet moments away from the vibrant cafe culture that is Windermere. Warm and clean we aim to make you feel welcome.
    In a small purpose built block the flat has been refurbished recently and decorated to a high standard. It has one bedroom, guests have the entire flat for their use. There is a shared lawn area, enclosed by hedge and walls. There is an allocated space in the car-park. In the distance, the Coniston fells are an inspiring view, but its just as convenient to walk from the door. Lots of choices, including the lake shore , Orrest Head view point, much loved by Alfred Wainwright, the beech trees of Sheriffs Wood or the unspoilt School Knott tarn.
    The mainline train station at Kendal town is called Oxenholme, Lake district. From there a local train service runs into Windermere. The popular cafe culture in Windermere contributes to a vibrant village. Booths is our local supermarket where you will find regional products. A Co-Op and Sainsburys are on the main streets. We are proud of the beautiful scenery, and if you don't want to drive, you will find lots of other means to explore. Walks from the door step take you uphill to small tarns, view points or down through woodland, past pretty streams to the lakes shore. Increasing numbers of accessible paths open up access to people of a fitness and abilities "Wild" and lake swimming is increasingly popular, you may even be joined by an otter! There are many historic houses and sites to visit locally reflecting the poets, craftspeople and artists who have lived here. Even if it rains, you will still find lots to do. The local cinema has a Wurlitzer organ and regular recitals. Visiting orchestras host concerts over summer. There are lots of activities throughout the year. We try to keep an up to date guide available. A new and very successful initiative last year was the winter German market. Our Christmas lights are strung between the streets, Father Christmas arrives by train in December, and local groups arrange regular events through the year. Windermere is well served by Churches. There is a Quaker meeting , and farther afield a Buddhist center, at both of which, people of all, or no faith are welcome.

    This is a cosy private room in a terraced house 5 minutes walk away from central Kendal. You will be easy reach of cafes, the castle, the beautiful river & the brewery arts centre. The space is shared with my partner Michelle & the dog, you have access to all the communal spaces & are welcome to cook. Think hostel simplicity! We are a lived in house so spaces will not be sparkling clean but hygienic 😊 Your bedding & towels always laundered but never ironed 😊 on street parking available.
    Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. A free continental breakfast of cereal and toast is included not to mention as much tea, coffee, chai, herbal tea etc as you like. You are more than welcome to use the kitchen to cook, we have oil, spices etc that you are more than welcome to use. There is no dishwasher unfortunately so the only downside is the washing up :) If you want to get here early or make the best of your last day you can leave your luggage in our front room, as long as the room is vacated by 11 we're not fussy.

    Ambleside self-catering accommodation rarely comes in a more picturesque setting. Stableman's Cottage, set up perfectly for self catering, is situated within part of the historic country house of Stepping Stones, once owned by William Wordsworth's son. The house overlooks the famous stepping stones across the River Rothay at the foot of Loughrigg fell surrounded by beautiful countryside. This lovely location is amazingly within walking distance of the bustling village of Ambleside, a short drive to Grasmere and the popular tourist villages of Bowness and Windermere. Also a short stroll away is the hamlet of Rydal where there is a local pub and tea rooms. Combining characteristic features of exposed beams and vaulted ceilings with tasteful comfortable interiors and modern appliances, the cottage is well-equipped for self-catering and the perfect base in which to explore the Lake District. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms, the cottage layout is ideal for families (suitable for children from age 5+), groups of friends or two couples wishing to have separate private bathroom/shower facilities. Stableman's offers a lovely private 'home from home' and is an ideal Lakeland retreat …. comfortable accommodation, stunning views, fantastic walks straight from the door, an abundance of local wildlife, a myriad of local eateries, well located for visiting tourist attractions …. and much much more. Our weekly changeover day is Friday although out of the main season we offer weekend and short breaks. We are officially rated 4* by Visit England and have experience of letting out our holiday home for many years with excellent reviews.
    After parking and admiring our beautiful location looking down to the river and the fields and fells beyond, guests make their way up stone steps (14 to be precise) and follow a path at the side of the main garden to one more step that leads on to our private dining patio and front door. The front door leads into an open plan kitchen/dining area. This lovely fitted kitchen complete with electric oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer is very well-equipped for self-catering. Two steps lead up into the lounge where the tastefully designed soft furnishings and comfortable seating for 5 provide a lovely relaxing place to unwind at the end of the day. There is a TV, DVD player, Sonos speaker and CD player with ipod dock/audio. Also available is an excellent selection of games, books and DVDs for guests to enjoy during their stay. From the lounge, one step accesses a hallway leading to the double bedroom with en-suite shower room to one side and in the opposite direction are the king size and single bedrooms and bathroom with shower over the bath. All the bedrooms have velux windows with blackout blinds and stunning views of the fells. There is some height restriction in the spacious bedrooms as they are built into the eaves. We provide bedlinen (beds made) and towels. The bedroom configuration provides perfect accommodation for 2-5 people. Stableman’s is not suitable for disabled guests because of the steps up to reach the property and steps within the cottage. The cottage is also not suitable for babies : only children from age 5+ with adult supervision in the garden. Sorry no pets. The cottage is gas centrally heated. Gas and electricity is included in the price. We provide cleaning products for guests on arrival but they may require more during their stay. There are 2 car parking spaces for Stableman’s guests on the left of the drive by the entrance closest to Rydal.
    Located in idyllic rural surroundings in the heart of the English Lake District national park with a view that has hardly changed since the property was in the Wordsworth family, Stableman’s Cottage is just minutes from Ambleside by car. Guests have a true getting away from it all experience in beautiful and stunning scenery spectacularly located by River Rothay near Rydal Water. There are many many wonderful walks straight from the door, ranging from short walks to full day hikes. These include nearby Rydal Caves by Rydal Water, Loughrigg Terrace towards Grasmere and the fabulous 11 mile circuit of Fairfield Horseshoe. We are short stroll from the hamlet of Rydal where there is a local pub and tea rooms at Rydal Mount (former home of Wordsworth) and Rydal Hall (open throughout the year). Alternatively a few minutes in the car (or about 20 minutes by foot) takes you to the vibrant village of Ambleside known by locals as the jewel in Lakeland´s crown. Here you will find an interesting range of local shops, tempting delicatessens, traditional Lakeland pubs and top-class restaurants - even a cinema and live music bar. There are also endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Lake Windermere can also be enjoyed from Waterhead Pier, where ferries depart regularly to Bowness and Lakeside. Nearby too is Grasmere, a wonderful Lakeland village with views abound. Grasmere has drawn poets, artists and painters for centuries. Famously the home of William Wordsworth in Dove Cottage. This can also be reached by foot by a path from Rydal Mount. Bowness on Windermere is the most popular tourist destination in Cumbria; it is a hive of activity with plenty to see and do. Both young and old love to feed the ducks and swans at the water's edge and the many steamer cruises and boat hire are popular choices. There are cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and shops to help you while away the hours. The famous Beatrix Potter museum is well worth a visit too. On the other side of Loughrigg Fell from Stableman's is the Langdale Valley with many walks and a selection of tea rooms and pubs at Skelwith Bridge and Elterwater. Further afield, Hawkshead, Coniston, Ullswater, Keswick and Borrowdale are all easy to drive to from our base.

    Hello, Scott and Jade here. For us a good trip starts with waking up at a great central base to explore; accompanied by a strong coffee… And that’s what we like to think we can offer. Our house is located seconds away from some of Windermere’s most stunning walks including School Knott and Brant Fell. And for the foodies, we’re a 15 min walk into Windermere town centre (shorter if you cut across the park) where there are loads of top bars and restaurants to try.
    We’re very proud of our bnb and we like to keep it clean and tidy. We consider ourselves quality over quantity folks. Our space isn’t the biggest, but our memory foam bed is super comfy, our shower powerful and our coffee is never instant! The bnb is attached to our home in a quiet residential area. It has its own private entry (and garden, should you wish to enjoy the sunshine) meaning you can come and go whenever you like. The space has an area to make a good brew, mini fridge and access to wifi. There’s also plenty of parking.
    If you’re more of a ‘walk to a good country pub kind of person’… we can accommodate you there too, as there are plenty of short walks to some of the best pubs in the Lakes including (our favourite) the Wild Boar. For the more adventurous we’re a ten-minute drive from Ambleside and the Langdale valley (if you fancy ticking off some of the bigger fells).

If walking isn't your cup of tea, then why not hire a small motorised pleasure boat from St Patricks Boat Landing, 5 minutes walk away, or jump aboard one of the Ullswater Steamers, 10 minutes walk from the cottage and sail up to Pooley Bridge or Howtown. Fancy eating out, then you will enjoy the local pubs, hotel bars, tea shops and cafes, all within walking distance. If you wish to go further afield, then why not use the bus service, with a bus stop situated at the end of the lane. Ambleside, Windermere, Keswick and Penrith are all well-within a hours drive from the cottage. The Cottage includes: Ground Floor One private parking space to the front of the cottage. Open plan living room and kitchenette with a dining table for two, large log-burning stove, TV with DVD player. A door leading to the rear enclosed garden. The kitchenette offers an oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, fridge and freezer, crockery and cutlery. First Floor Kingsize double bed with bedside tables either side. Modern bathroom with basin, loo and walk-in shower. Fabulous views to the front and rear of the cottage, looking onto the fells. All the windows have been replaced with double glazing and storage heaters are located on both floors and with the fire burning, the cottage is wonderfully cosy and warm!
    Grizedale Bridge is situated on the border of Patterdale and Glenridding. It is a very short stroll to Ullswater waters edge and also the fabulous cafes, food establishments and pubs. For walkers, you are at the base of the Helvellyn Range so you have a plethora of walks to choose from. The UIlswater Steamers Jetty is again a short walk, so you can enjoy a lovely sail up to Pooley Bridge or across to Howtown.

  • Gran estancia en casa de David. Para la recepción, no estaba en casa, pero tenía todo planeado para que lo encontrara fácilmente (luz de indicaciones precisas encendida, caja de llaves externa). El alojamiento es muy cómodo y perfectamente limpio. . Hay mucha documentación sobre los alrededores. Recomiendo este alojamiento

  • La casa es muy acogedora y está impecablemente limpia, y puede acceder a hermosas partes del Distrito de los Lagos en 20 a 45 minutos en coche. Nos quedamos una semana y, aunque éramos 3 adultos, nunca sentimos que el lugar fuera demasiado pequeño. Netflix, los libros y los juegos de mesa son un buen toque. Y la cocina tiene todo lo que necesitas para cocinar excelentes comidas. Realmente perfecto en todos los aspectos, ¡volveremos!

  • Muy espaciosa y cómoda casa de un dormitorio en un bonito campo. El check in fue muy fácil y el lugar es perfecto para una larga estadía, ya que cuenta con una cómoda sala de estar e incluso DVD y juegos de mesa. También han compilado toda una selección de cosas para hacer en el área, lo que fue increíblemente útil. Sin duda lo recomiendo y esperamos volver otra vez!
