Chateau Biron set in the beautiful forest - visit the chateau for a taste of history or follow the numerous paths on foot or bike to explore the surrounding countryside. There are two café / restaurants in the village and it is also close to Monpazier and Monflanquin if you want to make a full day trip.

Another beautiful bastide town perched atop a hill. With views in all directions, shops, restaurants, it's easy to see why it's so popular.
We recommend the following route for a day trip:
Villereal, Monpazier, Biron, Monflanquin.

The Chateau is one of the best fortified castles in the area - made famous in the Hundred Years Way, this chateau sits on the northern bank and looks at the chateau at Castelnaud on the opposite bank.

Bergerac is our local big town, it has everything you need: large supermarkets (Intermarche, Leclerc, Lidl), sports warehouses (Decathlon), Jardiland (everyone's favourite garden centre and cafe).
There are also weekday and weekend markets, beautiful architecture in the histrocic centre and boat trips on the Dordogne river. There are plenty of restaurants and it is worth visiting for an afternoon or evening.

The airport is less than ten minutes by car from our gite. There are several car hire options here too.

Parks & Nature
If you like canoeing then we really recommend visiting here. Even in the height of summer you can have the Dordogne river to yourself - paddle downstream, stop for a swim or a picnic and take in the scenery. Highly recommended.
