Sightseeing

The Sarah P Duke gardens is a large area just outside the Duke Campus with so much to see. You can walk anywhere and see beautiful plants, ponds, etc. We bring a lunch, find a nice spot and have a picnic while our kids explore. There are only a few bathrooms and there is duck food available at the visitors center. (No Food or water for sale unless the snack shack happens to be open)

For kids

This is a whole day adventure! With a huge indoor museum and lots to do outside, you can do some or do it all, you will be satisfied! Food is available about half way up the outside area and you can bring your own lunch as well.

Yes, this is a nursery but Th-Su they have a 'garden shack' that serves some great adult beverages and the best Italian ice! they have lots of seating around the nursery to enjoy a beverage and occasionally live music. We like to go here almost every Sunday with the kids for some nice down time and a treat.

Neighborhoods

Downtown is amazing. It's small, safe, and easy to get to. My favorite place to bar hop is Brightleaf. (You can get parking validated but if you leave late enough, the gates are open) Main street has a lot of great places as well and the botique hotels all have great bars and restaurants inside. Pour is a wine lovers paradise! Another area to check out is the Warehouse district on Rigsbee Ave. Lots of dive bars to pop into! We have tons of breweries and distilleries if that is something you are into. Too many good ones to list!

I don't spend a lot of time in Chapel Hill personally, but it is super close! Franklin street has most the bars and restaurants and I always enjoy driving through sorority row and seeing the houses.
