The seafood is delicious and creative here. Don't expect too much in the way of atmosphere because it's really rustic and low-vibe, but locals love it. They have a non-fish kids menu, too.

This is my personal favorite coffee shop. It's owned by a small family who closes on Sundays. It features Bubble Tea, Crafted Coffees, Smoothies, Bakery Items and many secret recipe items. Tuesday is Amateur Music Night where locals come to show-off their singing, guitar and other musical talents. So far, every one of them has been enjoyable. Check their website first for hours, and be sure to go to the one in the village of Summerville.

Check their website first for hours, and be sure to go to the one in the village of Summerville.
The restaurant resembles a Civil War era Fort, sits on the water across from Charleston Marina and has a wonderful variety of items. I highly-recommend the house salad with their famous croissants, but my husband loves their Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. They have a kid's menu, too.

One of our 3 beaches to choose from. This particular one is very family-friendly and has the most beautiful view of the ocean as you ascend the bridge onto the island. Parking is easy and is right beside the beach. Check for fees, but typically a whole car can park for $5. There are also parking meters throughout. There are fun spots with music to relax and eat in, typical souvenir shops and great window-shopping.

Here you can see the oldest slave cabins east of the Mississippi, and the plantation provides historical reenactments of plantation life. The house tour is wonderful, but be sure to walk the beautiful gardens and attend the special events.

Middleton Gardens is the only "preserved" plantation in our area. It has never been restored, but rather has been carefully preserved in its original condition. The grounds are beautiful and it's on the Top 10 of Historical Registry buildings. Folk Lore says that Sherman was going to burn it as he came through the South during the Civil War, but was told the plantation had been turned into a small-box hospital and spared it.
