2-star Michelin. Modern British.
2018 will be Midsummer House’s 20th anniversary and its history is fascinating. This Victorian villa is on Midsummer Common on the banks of the River Cam amongst a number of Cambridge University Colleges.
The service matches the cooking, the wine list is majestic but the bill can be a little wince-worthy. Its style is theatrical and melding of utter technical brilliance with a wild imagination, this restaurant is among the most unforgettably good in Britain today, and it would be unpardonably vulgar to put a price on that.
Simply our favourite place to eat in Cambridge for a special occasion - book well in advance!

If you fancy a short break and a pint or a glass of prosecco during your sightseeing, then the Eagle is the one for you.
Interesting fact: it was the pub where Francis Crick announced that he and James Watson had discovered DNA (and they were right!)

It's not always easy to get around the city centre when it's packed with crowds.
One of the nicest ways to see the sights is by punt.
Whether you get a tour, or self-punt, you can see the beautiful backs from the river.
Or if punting is not your thing, you can also go on boat tours near the Plough pub or you can get in a canoe to Grantchester.

The Bridge of Sighs came into being because the building of New Court made necessary a second crossing of the river between it and Third Court, and New Court's architect seized the opportunity for some more charming and allusive romanticism. It must be noted, however, that the only real similarity between the Bridge of Sighs and its Venetian namesake is that both of them are covered bridges. Today it is part of the main thoroughfare through the College and used daily by those who live and work here.
