This is Broadstairs' town beach and is superb for a family day out! Bring a bucket and spade and your swimmers for fun in the sand and sea. There's a few children's rides in the far corner, a beach cafe, the sea pool and watersport equipment for hire during high season. You can bring a picnic and spend the whole day watching the waves and enjoying the skies. During high season the beach has coast guards patrolling for your safety.

Right next to Viking Bay (Ramsgate direction) this beach is dog friendly, with dogs allowed on the lead all year round. If you keep going in the direction of Ramsgate, the dogs can come off the lead. A pretty little bay with a tea stand for refreshments.

Going north from Viking Bay (Broadstairs beach) you’ll find Joss Bay, a beautiful beach and famous as having the best surfing in South East England. You can rent boards (or SUPs) there or get lessons.

This is a lovely family beach and actually the beach that is closest to Pear Tree Cottage. It is less busy than Viking Bay at peak times. You can walk dogs on this beach, just check the restrictions regarding times on the Thanet council website.
