Lake Hope was built in 1834-35. The area was once major in iron production, using the ore harvested in the area and forged in many local furnaces. One of these, the Hope Furnace still stands near the park.
There is hiking, fishing, boat rental, swimming beach and the Lake Hope Lodge restaurant to be found in the area. For more information, check out the Ohiodnr.gov page on the area.
