Starland Yard is such a chill outdoor venue featuring varied food trucks, and the best pizza that you will eat from Vittoria Pizza. The venue is extremely clean and a great place to visit with anyone, including kids and pets. We think that the perfect day includes some time on Tybee Island and a stop at Starland Yard on the return trip where you will pass through some beautiful neighborhoods along the way.

The Olde Pink House may be the most renowned restaurant in Savannah with some hauntings of its own according to local folklore, and if you don’t book well in advance, thus can’t score a coveted reservation, there is actually a restaurant along the side that serves the same menu and is a first come, first served space. Sometimes you may get lucky and get in within 20 minutes, but other times the wait can be in excess of 4 hours but definitely try to get in … and your chances are best if you arrive at 11:00 when they open to get on the list. The food, drinks and service all rival one another in their excellence. If Rob is your waiter he will describe every drink and menu item in a way that will leave you considering ordering everything that they offer. Definitely try the crab beignets while you are there (no photo available because they were consumed too quickly).

Shopping - Local Artists
Gallery 209 is on River Street, near our property and features local artists so you can take home a piece created by someone from Savannah in favor of the souvenir shops along the way. They offer jewelry, pottery, photography and paintings and the artists actually work in the shop periodically. I have purchased jewelry, the bowls on the living room shelf and a great Christmas ornament of a barge that we often see from our window view.

Shopping - Wine/Beer/Liqour
Alcohol is a big part of the culture in Savannah with the area being unique in the fact that you can actually walk around with cocktails (as long as they are in cups). However, many of the liquor/wine/beer stores in the historic district are way too expensive, betting on customers looking for convenience. We were delighted to run across this beverage store on our way to Whole Foods where my husband discovered an excellent selection of bourbons that are rare finds in North Carolina and fairly priced, and I was excited to find some of my favorite wines for well under what I am accustomed to paying at Total Wine. The owner, Nayan, is extremely helpful, especially if you are a collector like my husband is, so feel free to ask for him while you are there and tell him that you are renting Gregg and Kristi's place in downtown Savannah and he will be sure to take care of you.

Forsyth Park is a 30 acre park with activities for kids, yoga, farmer's markets and local artisans. There are beautiful homes surrounding the park and Collins Quarter restaurant where you can sit outside and take in the scenery.
