Walk

Walk the Monteliusvägen on Södermalm, you can go to T Mariatorget and then go from there, try Google Maps to find the start! After that you can Continue to the highest ”mountain top” inside of Stockholm, Skinnaeviksberget, via Gamla Lundagatan. It could be a good start in Stockholm to see nice views over the town and Also picturesque houses.

For a local Walk/fika /café/swim in Mälaren - Walk to Vinterviken. Via Aspudden from my home it takes about 15 min. You can visit the really nice garden café or café Vinterviken and take a swim at the small beach or swim from the ”board walk” beach further in Örnsberg.

To eat Swedish food I came to think of Tennstopet, very nice, also always been a meeting place for journalists and authors. I think this list is good also: https://thatsup.co.uk/stockholm/guide/the-best-swedish-restaurants-in-stockholm/?_ga=2.128104396.1717001814.1657054767-143121872.1657054767

Art/nature/boat trip/day excursion: go to Artipelag! Very nice art exhibition in beautiful nature and also inside a beautiful building, best experience is to take the Stromma canal tour there, we loved it 2 years ago! Also possible to take the bus back or back and forth. https://www.stromma.com/en-se/stockholm/excursions/day-trips/boat-trip-to-artipelag/

Maps etc

Do you have maps in your cell phones? Otherwise I can find a link with good maps that you can print. Also I can write down more instructions for directions. For now I will tell you www.hitta.se www.eniro.se and of course google maps which is great also for and reviews. Or go to tourist information. In Kungsträdgården, Metro T-centralen or Östermalmstorg.

Food stores and local bakers

Food stores you find at the T-bana/Metro Midsommarkransen, get up at Svandammsvägen (Coop)/ Svandammsplan on the other side of the Svandammsparken (small Coop) and Telefonplan (Hemköp). Also a big ICA on Tellusborgsvägen 7 minutes walk. Baker is opposite Coop Svandammsvägen 17 (Bageri Pomona); the other one is Söderbergs on Cedergrensvägen, really good, if not on vacation now. Also a good bakery, la Bonne Femme, just on the other side of Svandammsparken, 3 mn walk.

The archipelago

There are a lot of lovely islands, and you should visit at least one of them. Read more at www.waxholmsbolaget.se If you dont have too much time you could choose Grinda, Utö or the fast boat to Sandhamn. Or the small and maybe little bit touristy Fjäderholmarna, but very close and still nice I think.

Swimming

You can also go swimming in the middle of the city, f.e. at island Långholmen or at Fredhäll (mostly rocks). The closest nice sandy beaches are Tantolunden beach close to T Hornstull or Långholmen also not far from T Hornstull. With car you should go to f.e. Mälarhöjdsbadet at Mälaren below Bredäng/Mälarhöjden (long walk down/up from car parking though). Or Sätrastrandbadet below Sätra where you can park at beach level. Or take a walk from Midsommarkransen to Örnsberg and have a swim there - for people who can swim and great for evening sun and sunsets.

Local walks etc

Take a walk from Midsommarkransen to Örnsberg and maybe have a swim there - for people who can swim and great for evening sun and sunsets. Lovely at Vinterviken (garden café, old Alfred Nobel factory etc) and along the lake Mälaren on the way. I think I wrote some tips in the listing also.

Nice relaxed restaurants nearby, part 1

Tre vänner, PiP pita in the park (extremely close) and Svenska midsommarköket in the park are the newest restaurants, restaurang Landet (telefonplan, more trendy/cool/young but relaxed). Not Fancy/Posh (for that: go into town!) but nice. Even more relaxed but good are Svenska Hamburgerköket (very good Burgers and beer) and Svenska sushiköket (very good sushi). Both very close. They now also have Svenska Pizzaköket with very good napolitan style pizza.

Nice relaxed restaurants nearby, part 2

Tellus Pizza you see from my window… Maybe not the napolitan one but very good I think! My favorite pizza there is ”Bogart”. On Tellusborgsvägen there is also an Indian restaurant, good. And a thai restaurant opposite of that. But I usually buy Thai takeaway (or sit there if weather is nice) from a Thai kiosk at corner of Främlingsvägen/Bäckvägen/Vallfartsvägen. Actually there is a sushi place on other side of Midsommarkransen (Coop side of T-banan) that is even better. The name is Zugoi sushi. However I like better sitting down at Svenska sushiköket than the other sushi place.

Rooftop bars

I don’t even know where to start recommending places in town. But now there are more and more places with roof top outdoor bars that are really nice. One relaxed and trendy rooftop place is Urban Deli Sveavägen which is really nice. There is also Tak, that is the one at Brunkebergstorg. I was there last summer and really nice and big om top of three different buildings with bridges between! Kulturhuset, Sergels torg

Garden cafés

I love garden cafés and one of my very favorites is Vintervikens trädgårdscafé that you can walk to from my home. Another really really nice garden café, bigger and very popular, is Rosendals trädgårdscafé at Djurgården. If weather not nice you can sit in a glass house.

Mall of Scandinavia

A quite new and nice, big, shopping mall with both the chain budget stores and more exclusive ones is "Mall of Scandinavia", pendeltåg (commuter train) to Solna station, 7 min. from Centralen. Nice mall if you like that or weather not nice. Also good restaurants in that mall.

If you want to buy alcohol

In Sweden you need to go to Systembolaget to buy alcohol (or a bar/restaurant). I think the closest one is in Liljeholmen, one metro stop away. There is also one in Västberga, besides Stora Coop, about 15 minutes walk. In Liljeholmen is also a big galleria.
