The Hive Beach Café does a marvellous seafood platter and has a very good national reputation so is always busy. A little pricey but massive portions (too big imo), the Hive Beach Café has a slightly over deserved reputation and it may be better to head to The Parlour at Bredy Farm unless you MUST have views of the sea. Great for pescies, not much choice for veggies,

Montacute House is our closest historic house, an absolute jewel of Elizabethan manor house. The gardens are formal and a little dull but the house itself is stunning, you must go inside. Upstairs is a portrait gallery with paintings on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. The village of Montacute is typical honey coloured Ham stone, cut from the ancient quarry at Ham Hill. Montacute House has been used in so many film locations it is bound to give you a bit of deja vu.

Perry’s is a celebrated working cider mill in one of South Somerset’s prettiest villages. Enjoy a café lunch at a picnic table in the orchard, try dry, medium and sweet ciders straight from the barrel and grab a few essentials from the well-stocked farm shop. This is real cider made by a local family set in a C16th courtyard of local stone and thatch. You could not get more Somerset than this.
