Our favorite spot for salmon fishing July-August is at the Russian River/Kenai River confluence. Recommend booking a tour or guide if you are not an expert salmon fisherman :-)

Alyeska - amazing skiing in the winter; for summer there is a tram you can take up the mountain for amazing views of the Cook Inlet. Nice (pricey) restaurant at the top as well, reservation needed.
