Theres cheap hot foods sold like roasted chicken , sushi, baked goods, cakes and sandwiches if you want to save money on foods. Closed late til 10pm or 11pm on most nights. Supermarket in the city. other than the usual staple there is a Full deli, various artisan breads and birthday cakes. you can buy flowers too here. A bit more expensive than other supermarkets but worth checking out for their fresh veges n fruits

Take the cable car from Lambton Quay, Cable Car Lane (just next to the Countdown Supermarket) up to Mount Victoria to go sightsee and enjoy the Wellington city views high up there. (provided its good weather!) or have a coffee or two. Theres also the Carter Observatory once you are up there if you are into astronomy. Entrance fees apply. check their website for details & opening hours.

I go here for some delish desert..its on the 3rd storey of some dinghy entrance off Courtney Place, like a secret spot.. but dont let that fool you..., its cosy, warm and has a chillout vibe - decorated like a library with books all around and comfy sofas to lounge...cool place to hangout.. check out website for opening hours

There is a children's playground, a cafe nearby, buskers to entertain you with music (sometimes) and even an indoor rock climbing nearby where you can also rent kayaks on good weather.
