Formerly Common Man Brewing, their food was so well-received that they expanded their kitchen instead of brewing their own beer (hence, the name change). I drool over the "Korean Kimchi fries" (and it's OK to have it as your meal! I do!) 22 rotating tap lines means new beer to try all the time. Growlers available!

This is a small town fried chicken drive-thru only open during the summer months. No indoor seating, only picnic tables. Our family likes to eat out there next to the giant chicken statue. Get some good fried cheese curds and malts (as well as many other diner-type fried things, burgers, fish sandwiches, etc.) Cash or check only, though an ATM is on site.

You can't beat the view of the Mississippi River Valley from the top of this bluff. It's stunning at any time of the year. Parking available on East 5th Street. Bring study shoes and your camera. Even at a leisurely pace, it shouldn't take more than 45 minutes to reach the top.

Our family loves this place. Inside the visitor center, you'll find live native animals, including turtles, frogs, and raptors. There are trails to explore, and a pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Great for families and couples, this nature center has events often, from bird banding to preschool programs.

If hoofing up Barn Bluff isn't your thing, Memorial Park is the next best thing. You can drive all the way up to the top and still see much of what you'd see on Barn Bluff. Easier for those with little kids and those with mobility issues. :) There are also trails for hiking and mountain biking, fantastic picnic areas, as well as a disc golf course. Do note that this park is closed during the winter.

A little gem if you plan on staying on the Wisconsin side. Daily entrance fee per vehicle per day is $5. There are playgrounds, a lake with canoe/kayak/boat rentals, and in winter, a GREAT sledding hill and cross country skiing trails. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Self-serve on-your-honor system for aquaponically-grown tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs, as well as farm fresh eggs and local honey. It's a relatively primitive operation, but don't let that dissuade you. It's the best, freshest lettuce I've ever had! And it's just down the road from us. :)

Sightseeing

The Ellsworth Creamery now sells its curds in all 50 states, and provides massive amounts of cheese curds for the Minnesota State Fair and Ellsworth's own annual Cheese Curd Festival, held in June. Free samples of various cheese curd flavors here, as well as Wisconsin- and dairy-themed gifts and wines. If you go in the morning, the curds are still warm and squeaky (which is a good thing)!
