We also recommend that you visit the Archaeological Museum in the centre of the city to gain a better understanding of this historical site. Tickets for both of these attractions can be purchased together.

The beach of Triopetra is situated 50km south of the city of Rethymno. The main beach of Triopetra has beautiful coarse sand, mesmerising rock formations and caves. Triopetra takes its name from the 3 rocks rising from the sea, together with the backdrop of mountains it creates one of the most spectacular sunsets on the island.

At 3km in length this gorge is the perfect hike with a refreshing swim in the waterfall of Kourtaliotis, close to the chapel of the local saint Nicholas Kourtaliotis. To access the gorge and the beach of Preveli it is recommended to use the designated car park, hike down to the beach and then up the gorge from there.

Kourtaliotiko Gorge
Kourtaliotis Gorge is one of the most impressive and diverse places to hike in Crete. It’s unique lagoons and rock pools merge to create a great hiking and swimming combination. At 3km in length this gorge is the perfect hike with a refreshing swim in the waterfall of Kourtaliotis, close to the chapel of the local saint Nicholas Kourtaliotis. To access the gorge and the beach of Preveli it is recommended to use the designated car park, hike down to the beach and then up the gorge from there.
Samaria Gorge is one of the most famous gorges in Europe measuring almost 16km in length and a demanding trail are varying altitudes. This incredible national park is a wonder to be seen but never underestimated. To complete this trail, it is recommended you will need between 5-7 hours; good footwear; food and drinks; sun protection and suitable clothing. This trail is not recommended for people with limited movement/ fitness as it can be very inaccessible in places. To start this trail, you must drive to the Samaria Gorge Trail Head in Omalos, once completing the hike the only option is to take a ferry from Agia Roumeli to the port of Sougia and take a public bus back to the trailhead to your car. Please be advised that the tickets for the bus are cash only but the tickets for the trail and ferry can be paid in cash or card. More information about the Gorge can be found at: www.samaria.gr/

Samaria Gorge
Samaria Gorge is one of the most famous gorges in Europe measuring almost 16km in length and a demanding trail are varying altitudes. This incredible national park is a wonder to be seen but never underestimated. To complete this trail, it is recommended you will need between 5-7 hours; good footwear; food and drinks; sun protection and suitable clothing. This trail is not recommended for people with limited movement/ fitness as it can be very inaccessible in places. To start this trail, you must drive to the Samaria Gorge Trail Head in Omalos, once completing the hike the only option is to take a ferry from Agia Roumeli to the port of Sougia and take a public bus back to the trailhead to your car. Please be advised that the tickets for the bus are cash only but the tickets for the trail and ferry can be paid in cash or card. More information about the Gorge can be found at: www.samaria.gr/

Its turquoise waters and large expanses of sand are a must see for all the beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts. Falassana can be divided into 5 beaches, the first (to the south) being well organised with a large selection of sunbeds, umbrellas and beach bars. The second, third, fourth and fifth beaches (to the north) are significantly less organised and your advised to bring your own umbrellas etc but they do offer a quieter and more unique experience of Falassana.
