New Holland is a small island only 15 minutes’ walk from the flat and is a wonderful place for leisure and entertainment. Various events, lectures, concerts, workshops are held here and there is a great kids’ playground. It is simply nice to chill out on their green area in summer or go ice skating in winter. In 10-15 minutes’ walk there is a wonderful Yusupovsky park. It is a very cosy and lovely park with a pond and kids' corner. The beauty of this park is that no dogs are allowed in which means you can enjoy walking and running on the grass!

A wonderful place on the main street of the city that is very popular among locals as well as guests of the city. On the ground floor you will find a lovely café with tasty food at reasonable prices. You can always just pop in for a coffee and cake (cakes are awesome here).
The first floor has a restaurant with an original menu, great food choices and good service. On the same floor there is a great kids’ room with a childminder usually present so you can relax while your kids are supervised and involved in various activities.
On the top floor there is a bar which is also worth a visit.

It is always quick and easy to order a taxi in St. Petersburg. Main operators are Uber, Gett, Yandex Taxi, Taxovichkof. You can download their mobile apps or order a taxi by telephone or via their websites.

Public Transport
St. Petersburg has a very good public transport network. There is a bus stop on the corner of our apartment block. Regular buses no. 3 and 27 will take you along the whole of Nevsky Prospect and you can get to major sights on these bus routes (including St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Palace Square and The Hermitage, Kazan Cathedral, Spilt Blood Cathedral, The Russian Museum and many more). These bus routes will also take you to the following metro stations: Admiralteyskaya, Nevsky Prospect / Gostiny Dvor and Vosstaniya Square / Mayakovskaya.

Public Transport - where to buy a ticket
Tickets for the overground public transport can be purchased from a conductor or bus driver (if no conductor on the bus). Metro tokens can be purchased at each station. You can also pay for metro with your contactless debit/credit card – look out for special turnstiles with a contactless sign.
