Sand Harbor is considered the most beautiful beach in Lake Tahoe. It is located on the Nevada side of the lake in the Lake Tahoe National Park. The views from any part of the Bay are fantastic. The park contains the only island in Lake Tahoe, Fannette Island where a small teahouse was built by the owner of the Vikingsholm Castle. The park is accessible by State Route 89 near the southwest shore of the lake. Emerald Bay is one of Lake Tahoe's most photographed and popular locations. In 1969, Emerald Bay was recognized as a National Natural Landmark by the federal Department of the Interior. In 1994, California State Parks included the surrounding water of the bay as a part of the park, making Emerald Bay one of the first underwater parks of its type in the state, protecting the various wrecks and other items on the bay's bottom. There are several camping areas in Emerald Bay including Eagle Point Campground, Bayview Campground and the boat-in campground on the West side of the bay. Parking around the bay is small and will cost you about $8 for the day. You can also access the popular Desolation Wilderness hiking and camping area from the Eagle Falls parking area.

It will depend on your biking experience and where you are located, but the best way to learn about the variety of trails is to visit the Bike Tahoe website. They have excellent maps and links on where to rent bikes.

During the summer, High Camp has its own set of high altitude hiking trails. Activities are available day and night, summer and winter, and the views of the lake and the mountains are stunning from the pinnacle and from the Tram.

The Tahoe basin is mostly granite, with very little top soil, and therefore the very few necessary nutrients necessary for plants to grow have washed into the lake causing algae and other micro-organisms to live in the lake, making the water murky.
Over 40% of the precipitation falling into the Tahoe Basin flows directly into the lake.
Lake Tahoe located almost 50% in CA and 50% in NV, is fed by over 60 mountain fed streams including two hot springs. The Truckee River is the only outlet and flows from the dam in Tahoe City and end at Pyramid Lake, outside of Reno NV.

One of the best steakhouses with exceptional service, family size portions especially salads and sides, great wine options and honestly, very reasonably priced for the quality and Tahoe prices.
