Neighborhoods/Areas to explore

Here are a few neighborhoods that you can explore close to both the Treehouse & French Room!
Knox Henderson is an eclectic neighborhood with lots of antique stores, shops and restaurants. Both sides (Knox & Henderson) are walkable but separated by 75. Knox has the famed Travis Walk area as well as an entrance to Katy Trail. Henderson has pubs like The Old Monk, Henderson Tap House and restaurants for a casual bite or perfect patio to people watch. At night, there are some delicious restaurants to visit including Bilbouquet, Ziziki’s, Toulouse & Taverna and Gemma that the area is known for. Or pop into Felix Culpa, Smithy’s or Tei Tei Robata bar if you’re looking to see and be seen. The options are plenty!

Uptown is Dallas’ first true walkable neighborhood with 135 bars/restaurants in a 3 mile radius. Hop on the trolley which is an original 1920’s street car at West Village and take in the scenery, or get off to do some power shopping and brunch. There’s an area called ‘Steakhouse Alley’ by the Crescent where you can choose from Del Frisco’s, Perry’s, Nick and Sam’s, Mortons and Capitol Grill if you want to get a true taste of Texas. The Crescent Court Hotel has a Stanley Korshak as well as a Sixty Vines to refuel with amazing flatbreads and wine, or a spa to pamper with a pedi. There are options a plenty for brunch, as Dallasites take Sunday Funday seriously and you can either go trendy with The Henry or catch some delicious migas at Mi Cocina. Both will delight you!

The Arts District is the largest in the United States! I have included a map of the district for you, although its pretty easy to navigate. My favorite part is that everything is free entry the first weekend of the month. See the official website for more details at: www.dallasartsdistrict.org *Note that the Arts District is a quick scooter or Uber ride straight down Greenville/Ross Avenue from the Treehouse.

Deep Ellum is rich in history and hipsters. It's known for its bar scene, tattoo parlors, speakeasy/hidden bars & live music. Some of the best rooftops in Dallas are known for this area, and soon to be Uber new office space. Pecan Lodge started off the resurgence of this area, and being featured on the Food Network for an excellent bbq spot. So, no matter what the reason for visiting its always a good time! Be mindful of crime at night, as Deep Ellum is bordered by a few rough neighborhoods. I highly recommend taking Uber directly to the front door of wherever you're going, and staying with a group of people. Otherwise, have fun & enjoy yourself!

Food scene

These are a few of my favorite places in town! Cheers to good food & good friends in fabulous places...
Fun mexican restaurant with good food and strong drinks just minutes from the Treehouse. Free queso coupon in the welcome book! Try their lobster fajitas!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas! Its a cozy space - the dining room only holds about 45 guests, but high on flavor. Their custom pizza oven and sexy drinks are the perfect place before a night out on the town! They are located in Victory Park, so the perfect place to go before a show or game.

My friends MG & Jon Stevens own this restaurant and hip local hangout in the Design District. Perfect for a stopoff to get a flatbread or salad while exploring Art Galleries in the Design District. Check out their happy hour, too! I assure you this spot won’t dissapoint.

Although you can’t go wrong with breakfast, lunch or dinner at S&B, my fav is brunch. Try the shrimp and grits or one of their popular breakfast sandwhiches. Oh and their cocktails (or mimosas) can’t be beat! 🍸

Coffee shops, wine bars & bookstore

For business travelers and fun seekers alike! These are fun and swanky cool places that have the best java, view or places to meet up and start a new adventure.
This is such a unique place, I have always been with others. Its a great place for events - book clubs, poetry readings, etc. but also just a great place in a hip neighborhood to grab a coffee or glass of wine and take in the charm.

I am obsessed with their lattes! Two of my favs are the lavender latte and the blackberry latte. Must try with coconut milk. Oh, and the brownies are to die for. You've officially been warned.

This is one of my favorite go to spots in the neighborhood! The arepa with cheese is a must have, and you can’t go wrong with their breakfast entrees either. To add to their intrigue, they offer tango lessons on the first Monday of every month!

Art & Culture

I thought that this would be something that everyone would enjoy, so I wanted to add a couple of my favorite spaces. The Dallas Arts District is the largest in the US so its definitely something to explore if you are into the arts. Sometimes these places can be tricky to find, so here's a map with a few detailed locations for your convenience: https://www.dallasartsdistrict.org/map/# *Be sure to Uber/Lyft to these places! Most parking is expensive and remote.
The DMA is awesome! It's fun to browse after brunch, or on a dreary day. They have ongoing art lectures and architecture series and the art is awe inspiring. Highly recommend!

This place offers yoga classes, meditation, and unique art workshops/classes. It's got a secluded patio surrounded by bamboo and some of the most interesting asian art pieces I've seen. I am inspired every time I visit this intriguing space.
