The Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha are recognised as Queensland's premier subtropical botanic gardens. They are a key attraction in the Brisbane City Council Mt Coot-tha precinct. Founded in 1970 and officially opened in 1976, the 56-hectare gardens open daily from 8am-6pm in summer (September to March) and 8am-5pm in winter (April to August). Entry to the gardens is free. Dogs are not permitted at any time (except for guide and assistance dogs) to protect the gardens and native wildlife.
