New World and Countdown supermarkets and a wide array of retail stores, are close by in Kerikeri. A favorite I have is fossicing in the Four Square at Waipapa for a boutique selection of wine, cheeses, fine ingredients, ready made meals, coffee and fresh baked goods - perfect for treats to enjoy back at your tiny house!

New Zealand’s first capital city, Russell is full of historic buildings, charming shops and great restaurants. Many of the cruise and activity options for the Bay of Islands start here, but if you’re short on time, sit on the beach in the shade of a stately Pohutakawa tree. Drive to Paihia and catch the passenger ferry and walk the quaint streets, everything is close. If you prefer explore by car, take the Opua/Russell car ferry, then you can pop over the hill at Russell to enjoy stunning Long Beach for a swim in crystal waters

The Northland wine trail has some gems, close by

Kerikeri is the place where the missionary Reverend Samuel Marsden planted New Zealand’s first vines in 1819. Northland is not only the oldest, but it is also the warmest growing region in New Zealand, making it uniquely suited to ripening a wide range of grape varieties. Warm spring temperatures, hot dry summers, and calm, clear autumn days mean fruit ripens early, creating full-bodied, rich and generous wine. Find the vineyards closest to your tiny house! https://northlandwinegrowers.co.nz/
