Sightseeing

This Unesco World Heritage Site is the reason most guests visit the North Coast, it is a truly amazing space well there are two trains of thought on this amazing sight: Myth versus Science. The Myth: The first involves a certain giant by the name of Finn McCool. Finn is having trouble with someone across the water who is the Scottish giant Benandonner who is threatening Ireland. An enraged Finn grabs chunks of the Antrim coast and throws them into the sea. The rock forms a path for Finn to follow and teach Benandonner a lesson. Bad idea – Benandonner is terrifyingly massive. Finn beats a hasty retreat, followed by the giant, only to be saved by our hero’s quick-thinking wife who disguised him as a baby. The angry Scot saw the baby and decided if the child was that big, the daddy must be really huge!!!! The Science bit: The Giant’s Causeway is the aftermath of volcanic crashing, burning and cooling, An epic 60-million-year-old legacy to lava. Over 40,000 interlocked basalt columns. I like to believe its the home of our own giant :)

Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge was first erected by fishermen in 1755. It is National Trust owned and pre booking is recommended especially during summer months. A fab walk to the bridge itself showcasing the amazing scenery of the north Antrim coast and as long as not scared of heights, well worth a visit to the bank on the other side:)

North Coast Amazing Beaches!

There are many beautiful beaches on the Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland. Many of the Causeway Beaches are Blue Flag Beaches meaning they are some of the most pristine beaches in the UK. Six of the eight Blue Flag Beaches in Northern Ireland are found on the Causeway Coast. Here are some of my favourites :)
The North Coast has the most amazing beaches, perfect for a walk, family picnic even in our weather, stunning views. The Benone Strand is seven miles of golden soft sandy beach with spectacular views of Benevenagh mountain and Donegal. There is Lough Foyle and Magilligan Point in one direction with Downhill and Mussenden Temple in the opposite.
