It's the best museum in York - some really good objects and an overview of the history of the city. Much better than the Castle Museum. Also the Museum Gardens are lovely and contain the ruins of an old abbey.

Amazing locally sourced food at very good prices, and the most interesting interior of any bar in York - part of the wall is 9th Century AD, and the building's timber frame is from the 12th Century. Also does great local ales.
