Since 1875, this quaint little country store has served as the social hub of the Neck District. This lovingly restored market offers everyday items such as food, beer, wine, batteries, as well as bait and all sort of odds and ends from waders to widgets. For generations, the store was family-owned. John Lewis and his wife Shirley ran it for 52 years. Among the store’s illustrious customers, President Jimmy Carter, who liked to go duck-hunting in the area, used to stop in. Pull up a chair by the wood stove and swap stories and tall tales with the local folks and newcomers at the “liars’ bench.” You never know who just might drop in!
