Beaches and Parks

Fred Howard Park is located in Tarpon Springs, FL. Fred Howard Park is a must-see! It’s a hidden treasure that many long-time locals haven’t even been to! Little Known Facts: The mile-long causeway is a favorite of filmmakers. Most recently the causeway was featured in the John Cusack feature "Grace is Gone" and in a national television commercial for Cadillac. Windsurfing is cool and sunsets are spectacular at this park spreading along a white, sandy beach that is perfect for sunbathing. Approached by a scenic one-mile causeway, the beach has a swimming area. The park also has picnic shelters, a butterfly garden, softball field, playground and hiking/biking trail. For picnic shelter reservations go to www.pinellascounty.org/parks and select the link to make your reservation online with a credit card or call 727.582-2100 There is a $5.00 parking fee and they close right after sunset. There are pull offs where you can park and walk, ride your bike, long board, etc along the shore, or bring a lunch and have a picnic. You will need to bring your own chairs and beach items, I don’t believe there are any chair rentals. You can rent bikes, kayaks, etc.
Fred Howard is a local favorite and only a 30 minute drive.

Laid-back Clearwater Beach is known for its namesake stretch of soft, white sand, which draws visitors year-round for jet-skiing, parasailing, and stand-up paddleboarding in its calm waters. Cyclists and rollerbladers glide along a winding beachfront promenade lined with casual seafood restaurants and cafes. Come sunset, Pier 60 hosts a nightly festival with street performers and craft vendors.
