The best ski resort in California, Squaw Valley has 43 lifts with over 270 trails. It's a wonderful place to go skiing or snowboarding in the winter. In the summer it's an absolutely gorgeous place to take the family hiking.

Tahoe Dave's is our family's favorite place to rent skis and snowboards from. They have daily and longer term rates. They will also let you demo skis from the previous season depending on the snow conditions. In the summer they rent bikes to use.
