This is the prettiest bakery in the valley, both inside and out - baking the best bread. It also sells a whole host of local produce, including beers and wines. In the summer, they bake bread outside in an open fire oven, this gives the crust a wonderful smokey taste.

You‘ll find the nearest amenities for dining and shopping in the local town of Abondance, a picturesque, traditional French town with a warm and welcoming community. We recommend the Sunday morning farmers market, where you can pick up fresh produce and some of the famed local cheese for bubbling fondues. For dinner and drinks or even an aperitif we enjoy sitting by the river in the courtyard of Hôtel de l‘Abbaye, a relaxed Savoyard restaurant in an beautiful Alpine setting.

Chatel is our biggest ski resort with over 83km of piste, great for beginners but also some superb terrain for intermediate and experienced skiers. It offers incredible views and easy skiable links to both Avoriaz and Morzine. The lifts also open in June for summer hiking and biking trails. It's a 20 minute drive from Landscape Lodge and you will find free parking at the foot of the mountain with easy access to lifts. Please find some useful links below:

Take a swim in its healing waters at the immaculately kept public piscine or enjoy a hydrotherapy treatment at one of its many spa resorts. We recommend this hike for families as it’s not too challenging… we have a 4 and 9 year old and they both manage the hike quite well. At the top you eventually reach a Refuge that serves food and drink… but please don’t forget your cash as they don’t take cards and booking is advised.

There is a convenient car park close to a traditional mountain restaurant called Les Cabrettes. Stop for a drink or some savoyard cuisine and take in the spectacular views.
A lovely hike from La Chapelle-d’Abondance and you will eventually reach Lac d'Arvouin. At the top of the lake you get views down on to Lake Geneva.

Day Trip
Just past Plage d’Excenevex you can discover the small medieval town of Yvoire. Widely considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, it has a stunning summer floral display and is home to lots of wonderful authentic shops and restaurants

The village of Les Lindarets is probably your best choice if you’re looking for an authentic adventure in a mountain hamlet of typical Savoie-style chalets. You’ll be delighted by the population of goats that roam free here all summer long. The goat village in the Lindarets valley is easy to reach by road, on foot or by bike. Afterwards head down to Lac de Montriond, a stunning lake great for water sports.
