The Grand Ole Opry is the stage that showcases the past, present, and future of country music. For 95 years, we’ve been the home to the art form’s growth and change, from the first broadcast in the National Life Building on WSM’s Barn Dance in 1925 to the move into the new Opry House in 1974, and now to audiences across the globe on Circle TV and host to the 55th Annual ACM Awards in 2020. The Opry remains the platform that connects artists and fans to the music they love.

Nashville's Honky Tonk Legacy As the Grand Ole Opry took its place at the Historic Ryman Auditorium and in music history, the nearby Honky Tonk clubs of Lower Broadway became a creative breeding ground for hopeful performers, musicians and songwriters yearning to make it in Music City. Part live music venue and part musician community, the clubs provided encouragement, a stage, and a tip jar for struggling artists. Honky Tonk Music has strong roots here and remains a major influence on today's country artists with its raucous tales, country love stories, and sorrows to be drowned in the drinkin' and dancin' culture on Lower Broadway. From legends like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson to hot new artists like Dierks Bentley and Gretchen Wilson, these clubs have nurtured the talent and steeled the nerves of countless hopefuls before they became household names. Today, the Honky Tonks of Lower Broadway have become a must-see destination, maintaining a down-to-earth musician hangout attitude while welcoming visitors from around the world. As you take in the famous sights and sounds of Nashville's Honky Tonks, don't be surprised if the person sitting next to you is a famous athlete, movie star, or politician. They've all been known to go Honky Tonkin' from time to time. And who knows? You might just get a sneak preview of the next big thing to come out of Nashville.

Radnor Lake State Park is a 1,368-acre park and is protected as a Class II Natural Area. It is unique due to the abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities, environmental education programs, hiking opportunities, and its location in an urban area. The park is day-use only and the 7.75-miles of trail are strictly used for hiking, photography, and wildlife observation. Pets, jogging, and bicycles are only allowed on the Otter Creek Road trail. The Lake Trail is accessible to people with all-terrain wheelchairs. Hundreds of species of wildflowers, mosses, fungi, ferns, and other plants, as well as trees, shrubs, and vines, add to the natural ecological diversity of the area. Several ranger-led programs are planned throughout the year including canoe floats, wildflower walks, astronomy night hikes, nature hikes, programs on snakes, off-trail land acquisition hikes, and birds of prey.

Percy Warner Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the country, offers a variety of trails for running and biking, as well as beautiful winding roads for cycling. Cars can drive through the park as well, and the foliage in the Autumn is spectacular. There are also equestrian trails, athletic fields, and golf courses. Percy Warner Park is characterized by a group of steps built into the mountain located at the entrance to the park, and this entrance is reminiscent of a European allee. Of all the trails the Mossy Ridge trail is a beautiful 4.5 mile ridge loop. It provides lots of elevation gain and loss. If you're looking for a longer run or hike, you can extend to 11 miles, by combining Mossy Ridge, the Cane Connector Trail, the Harpeth Woods Trail, and the Warner Woods Trail. The park is home to a steeplechase course that hosts the Iroquois Steeplechase, run annually each May since 1941 (with one year off for World War II), as well as the state cross-country championships. It is a beautiful run or walk, providing hikers and runners with an intimate sense of the beauty of Middle Tennessee.

Discover the largest house built in Tennessee prior to the Civil War. Constructed between 1849 and 1860, Belmont Mansion was the home of Adelicia and Joseph Acklen. Visiting here is an opportunity to explore one of the few 1850s era homes still standing in Nashville while learning about the place and the people -- both free and enslaved -- who make this site worth understanding.
