City/town information

Frederick is home to miles of wonderful hiking and biking trails surrounding a cheery walkable downtown full of restaurants, shops, and art museums. You are located right in the historic downtown! Note for bicyclists: if you have a bike or decide to rent one (Frederick Bike doctor has some great selections) pretty much everything that’s drivable is also a very pleasant bike ride!

Outdoors

There are a lot of parks and trail systems around. These are our favorites.
5 minute walk. This quiet park stretches for a solid 30 minute park and continues into a few more miles via a bike trail. My wife and I used to walk our dogs on it after walking to Starbucks before work.

Food scene

15-minute walk. They have hundreds of flavors of tea you can try and buy as well as free samples and a cozy lounge upstairs that makes for a great hangout. Our favorites so far have been peach oolong, pecan pie, and apple toffee.

10 minute drive. This was a favorite spot for us. They have a friendly staff, good and affordable food (try the blackened chicken tenders!), and live music on Saturday nights. Did we mention they have over a dozen 9ft pool tables? Don’t worry, they have bar boxes too. A very friendly APA division plays there. They need beginners so don’t be afraid to sign up if you’re in town for a while! Bicyclists: There’s a slightly longer (~20 minutes) bike-friendly route if you take a route that passes by Bruster's Real Ice Cream

10-minute drive. If you like flavored coffee that isn’t acidic, their coffee is some of the best you’ll get. It’s our all-time favorite coffee and they can freshly grind bags for you. They also have a pretty nice area to chill.
