Part of the Table Mountain National Park, Silvermine Dam is within the Silvermine Nature Reserve.
The dam is a great place to swim, within the reserve there are numerous hiking trails, MTB routes to ride, great views over Cape Town to the Hottentot Hollands Mountains, to Noordhoek Beach and Kommetje on the Altlantic side and the False Bay coastline Muizenberg to Simonstown and down to Cape Point.
