Ottawa street is also worth a visit and it has a history of being a textile go-to-shopping spot:) There are still the fabrics but lots of trendy shops are popping up! Notably for food: Sweet Beets, and Hearty hooligan are top choices and happen to be vegetarian! Caro, Limoncello, and the Cannon (known for waffles!) are low key tasty restaurants. Aside from food one of our all time favourite shops is Simply Zen(finds of all kinds)! You can say hi to our friends Honey and Barb who run the shop. To load up on some produce visit Ottawa market. Visit the first Tim Horton's location (museum upstairs)! Grab a famous coffee and a bite. If its raining out visit my favourite boardgame cafe, Monkala Monk! Close by is one of the absolute best pizza joints in Hamilton, Shorty's on Cannon. Have a slice and then visit Osten's beer garden next door for a cold one or a fancy cocktail.

Locke Street (great for a stroll lots of unique shops and food). My top eateries there are Bread bar, Democracy and Mattson and CO. Brux House has great beer selection and gastronomic entrees. Don't forget to stop by Monster Donut - pick up a tasty fritter, donut and a milk shake (vegan options too!) it's worth the wait in line! Goodness me! It's a cute organic grocery (super $1 dollar coffee/tea and inexpensive baked goods), and there are a few shops like Lulu and Laveign, Nest and Vintage Charm that are unique. If you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, visit Amo a local gelato shop or Le Creme for chocolate and ice cream.

Food scene

James Street North and South is a fun blend of old and new. It's know known for the art crawls (2nd Friday of the month) where art galleries and stores stay open late! SuperCrawl Festival is in September and it's a not to be missed event with entertainment (e.g. live music) and lots of vendors! Along the street some well-established Portuguese and Italian restaurants/grocers juxtaposes with the new and the hip! Bar Sazerac has amazing unique cocktails if you are into that scene! Nique, Bread Bars, and Uncle Ray's Food and liquor are a fancier yet casual spots. Born and raised is a favourite because I love wood oven pizza and fresh pasta. St.James, SYNONYM and Merit Brewery are worth checking out too. Check it out if you like creative craft beer and tasty snacks. For vegetarian and vegan options. It has you covered. Green bar are great for a healthy yet casual bite that are quaint. Rise Above is a vegan pizza and wings with a lot more! After a take a walk to Dolled up bakery (serving up Instagram worthy desserts).

A stroll at the Bay front park is really scenic and just fun for people watching. There is skating/roller blading rink that's FREE! Another landmark is the H. M. S. C Haida parked at Pier 8, which is a retired destroyer class ship that was used in WWII and the Korean war. Admission is less than $4, and kids under 12 are free!

Shopping

Jackson Square (Mall) is downtown. Inside there is a convenient international supermarket called Nations with deli, hot food, and made to order meals. If you've never visited a jumbo supermarket this is your chance. In addition, McQueen Subs (Vietnamese subs) and KW Kitchen are delicious unassuming asian digs close by Jackson for a quick bite. For a more upscale mall experience visit Limeridge Mall on the escarpment.
