Experience

A destination or activity that is unique to the region.
Hot springs are unique to western Washington and this National Park experience offers three Mineral Hot Spring soaking pools and one Freshwater Pool. The spring water comes from rain and melting snow, which seeps through cracks in the sedimentary rocks where it mingles with gasses coming from cooling volcanic rocks. The mineralized spring waters then rise to the surface along a larger crack or fissure. The hot springs are a popular attraction in the summer and access is first come first served with a capacity of 150. I suggest heading to the hot springs early to secure a time slot for any time that day and building your days activities around it. Hiking trails and Lake Crescent are nearby. Entry fee is $15 per adult. I provide house towels to save you the towel rental fee :) Drive time from house to pools: approximately 1hr Open March 31st Closed October 31st Daily Pool Schedule: 8:00 am - 9:30 am 10:00 am - 11:30 am 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Check the tide tables and head over to Salt Creek Recreation area at low tide. Washington’s coastline can be rugged, Salt Creek shoreline is no exception, sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are highly recommended. Do not to harass the sealife found in tide-pools. Marine ecosystems are very fragile.

My next door neighbor is a commercial diver and in late 2023 the boys opened up Moby Duck. The food is excellent and fresh. As with most Port Angeles restaurants, the wait can be long in the summer so go early and don’t go while you’re starving. Tell Chris I said hi!
