The English Garden is one of the largest city parks in the world. The southern part is smaller but a bit more lively, due to it’s proximity to the city center. The northern part with quieter and more popular with locals. A walk (in the southern part) from the Eisbach wave up to the lake and back passes by the Chinese Tower and takes about 1-1,5 hours.

The Eisbach is not only the world known river wave, but also the name of the stream that makes the wave possible. This stream flows through the English Garden. If it’s summer, have a dip. It’s fresh mountain water. If you want action without getting wet, go see the surfers on the wave by the Haus der Kunst located at the southern tip of the garden.

The Hofbräuhaus is one of Munichs main attractions. A pilgrimage place for beer lovers from all over the world, it offers all clichés of a beer hall. Personally, I find there are better places to eat however. Try Haxnbauer around the corner of Hofbräuhaus for food.
