Sightseeing
No trip to Wellington is complete without a short ride on the famous cable car. Enjoy great views from the lookout and easy access to the Botanic Garden, Cable Car Museum, Space Place (Carter Observatory) and Zealandia (via free shuttle).

There is a large children's play area, a duck pond, and even glowworms visible some nights along paths in the Main Garden - there are monthly tours during autumn-spring (the Garden is otherwise closed at night).
Large sculptures and carvings are located throughout the garden. The Wellington City Council organises events during spring and summer months, such as free concerts in the Sound Shell.

Their shuttle picks up visitors FREE from outside the city i-SITE and Te Papa.
Mount Kaukau is the most visible high point in the Wellington landscape. A 4.2km walk, taking about 3 hours. This loop walk has a common entry and exit point and is suitable for those with average fitness. Starting at Simla Crescent the walk goes along the Northern Walkway up to the top of Mount Kaukau where there are picnic areas. At the summit, you go onto the Skyline Walkway and come back down behind Khandallah Swimming Pool.
