Home to the 5th President of the United States, James Monroe's HIghland is often overlooked. Modest compared to Jefferson's Monticello, Highland is still impressive showing the lives of James and Elizabeth Monroe during their time from 1793-1828 Because Highland is often overlooked, it is rarely ever crowded. This affords guests a more intimate, less hurried, and at times, a one-on-one experience. During your visit, also check out the rustic hiking trails around Highland. Trails are anywhere from 0.3 miles to 2.5 miles.
