Amazing local farmers market. Make sure you get there early as the day trippers from Auckland arrive by 10am and it is packed. We love the "We Love Pies" pies, also the salmon, feijoa sparkling wine, fresh veges...the list is endless! Don't eat before you go, you will want to try a little of everything! Make sure you take cash too, it can be a little easier and sometimes the cash machine runs out in summer. There is live music and the kids can try and find eels in the river!

Slightly more upscale restaurant with great meals at all times of the day. We particularly like their fish and chips! They are kid friendly have have a great kids menu and healthy food too.

Do not be fooled by the fact this is a shack on the side of the road! Literally the best oysters in the world! We buy them by the dozen and feast!

Great for lunch (mmm, seafood pizza), with swings and things for the kids to roam and play on. They have live music and comedy on in the evenings too! A great stop on your way back from Goat Island

If you have small kids this is a life saver, there is a great playground, you can feed alpacas, an art gallery, a café and two amazing restaurants!

Drive right out to the regional park, then walk over to the beach. NOt only a beautiful beach, with great surf, but at low tide there are caves to explore

Essentials
It is a 30 minute drive, but when we need to do a big shop (and stock up on wine) we head in to New World in Warkworth. They have amazing local foods too sometimes, like mussel sausages!
