The Green Mill is sophisticated informality, warm glowing atmosphere steeped in the heady sounds of the early ’30s and ’40s; it was actually patterned after Clark Monroe’s Uptown House in Harlem (as it was during the ’40s). Uniquely comfortable to all audiences from the sequined Saturday night date to the progressively dressed offbeat student, the magic of the Mill is that the audience commingles in its mutual respect for the music.

Visited Lagunitas on a Saturday afternoon for a brewery tour and was thrilled that they had an on-site restaurant to eat at after touring and drinking. The nachos are a must which I would recommend for all those who visit. Ordered the Beef Sandwich w/ Cheddar Cheese as the entree and once again was thrilled at how delicious and tender the sandwich was. We'll definitely be telling our friends about the positive experience we had not with the beer but also the food!

Second Fridays might be my favorite free event in Chicago. There are some other free events that happen only once or so a year, but this is every month and so its a free friday every month. It's definitely better in the summer, but my favorite part about the art district is that there are regular performances here. Performance art can sometimes be difficult to find, especially to find for free. It's not something that sticks around for a long time, too, so to be able to go somewhere when I know I can see a little bit of crazy and confusing every month is awesome.
