Food Scene

WSK is run by a great local couple - their food is good value and freshly cooked and their dairy free / gluten free options are great. There's always a vegan brownie of some kind! Recommend the Tuscan Bean Stew on cold days, and their dark chocolate Hot Chocolate at all times!

Sometimes you need a decent curry, and you need it fast. Sydenham Balti is a few minutes from the house, and we love it because of the extensive side dishes menu. They are always happy to prepare food without dairy etc. and service is fast.

Did you know Leamington has more coffee shops per m2 than anywhere else in the country outside of London? Procaffeinate are new to Leam, but have made a great impression with their cosy upstairs cafe, canal side terrace and awesome downstairs bar - which get you get to through a fridge ( yes, a fridge). One for beer enthusiasts, their bottle bar runs from floor to ceiling.

Great tapas, incredible beer and wine selection, and brilliant board games. Take a walk on Newbold Common and fuel up on the way back into town at the DB.

Butchers to the Queen, you know. Leamington is famous for it's local shops and deli's - and AA is the cream of the crop for meat and cheese.

Authentic South Indian cuisine - one of the rare places you'll find a Dhosa in the UK. If you've not tried one - you are missing out! Reservations recommended.

Drinks & Nightlife

Great pub quiz on Mondays ( difficult...). Food is good, as are drinks and gets rowdy of a weekend if that's your cup of tea.

FarGo Village is Coventry's answer to Brixton Village.... and we prefer it! Great vegan food and a vegan microbrewery ( amazing(, boutique shops and arts and crafts, and more eating options than you could possibly work through in a month.

Parks & Nature

A number of great walks start in nearby Long Itchington to suit all tastes. Make sure you loop back into the village to try out one of the many excellent local pubs.

Often busy but for good reason - Hatton Locks has a great canalside walk through a huge lock system. If you aren't familiar with UK canals it's worth a look, it can take boats over a full day to go form top to bottom. Parking and a good pub for refreshments as well.

Arts & Culture

Famously destroyed in the Second World War, the ruins of the Cathedral and it's Modernist replacement next door are really worth a visit. The Cathedral, once the symbol of the destruction of 'old' Coventry is now at the center of the city's regeneration - and with Capital of Culture 2021 on the way, it's worth checking out.

Stratford is worth a visit in itself, but don't miss Shakespeare's birthplace and a visit to the RSC to catch a play. Go early to avoid the crowds and avoid Saturdays if possible! Parking in Stratford at weekends is interesting - why not jump on the train instead?
