Lovely farmland and access to lake. Walk the W2K track to Kinloch.

Whakaipo Bay can often be deserted when other lakefront spots are packed. It's a great place to swim and there is a short bush walk. It's also the start of the "W2K" Whakipo to Kinloch track (shared by mountain bikers & hikers) which forms part of the Great Lake Trail.

We live only minutes away from this amazing bay. In summer its the best place to swim, paddleboard and kayak. It is also great to just take a blanket and a book down there to chill. Remember to take sand fly repellent and in summer an unbrella is a added bonus. There is also the famous W2K track that starts here for both walking and mountain biking.

It is a dusty bumpy drive down but a lovely quiet spot (usually). Bike tracks connect Whakaipo Bay with Kinloch, and then Kinloch with Kawakawa Bay. Worth doing if you are a mountain biker.
