Belém is a historical place, very spacious and easy to visit on foot. To get there take the bus 727. Recommended places: Pastéis de Belém (400 seats inside), Monastery of Jerónimos, Tour of Belém, Museu dos Coches, Coleção Berardo, Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Tip: If you go for the museums take Lisboa Card to skip the lines.

A laid-back area on the Tagus River, known for its seafood restaurants and houses decorated with colourful tiles. Among the area's shaded green lawns are historic landmarks that recall Portugal’s seafaring past, like the 16th-century Tower of Belém and the sail-shaped Discoveries Monument. Near the vast Gothic Jerónimos Monastery, the popular Pastéis de Belém patisserie is famed for its custard tarts. → Get the train (CP - Comboios de Portugal) by Cais do Sodré, 10min ride.
