In January 2015, Ellsworth Kelly gifted the Blanton a design concept for his most monumental work: the first and only building the artist designed, as well as the last project before his death in December 2015. The stained glass in this building is super cool! One of Austin’s better museums.

Blanton Museum of Art is 15 min walking from AirBnB. Free each Thursday and open until 9pm the 3rd Thursday of every month, otherwise about $10 (not including student discount). Art and great performances (often live local music)!

Capitol Building
“The pink-granite building is the centerpiece of downtown Austin, perched on a hill at 12th Street and Congress Avenue. Free guided tours are held daily, starting in the South Foyer, but brochures are also available on the first floor for self-guided tours. The Texas Legislature meets every two years, so you’ll have to check the schedule if you want to see an actual session in progress.”
