This big little slice of nature in the heart of Joburg is truly magnificent. Pack a picnic basket and revive your spirit among the birds and trees.

Beautiful place for family functions and picnics. The nature here is peaceful and the you can canoe in the lake. Also great for running and dog walking. You can never go wrong packing a picnic and a day in nature here. No admission fee. Plenty parking. Safe during the day.

There are a few entrances. Use the 1st one on Thomas Bowler St coming from Melville. This park is excellent for walks, jogs, the outdoor gym, bird watching, picnics, watching canoe's and walking through the rose garden ( In summer months ) . Best to be enjoyed from 4pm - 6 pm in summer and 4pm - 5 pm in winter. Sundays are popular days to see traditional weddings in the rose garden. ( southern side ) Avoid walking alone after sunset or in dense vegetation areas. Leave all valubles at home or lock it in the boot of your car.
