This excellent modern museum showcases the roles of women in Vietnamese society and culture. Labelled in English and French, it’s the memories of the wartime contribution by individual heroic women that are most poignant. If the glut of information sometimes feels repetitive, for visual stimulation there is a stunning collection of propaganda posters, as well as costumes, tribal basketware and fabric motifs from Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups. Check the website for special exhibitions.

To begin to understand the Vietnamese people and the culture this would be a good place to start. I'm not big on museums but this one is put together nicely and is easy to walk through and to get something out of it. This might be something you go to when you are wanting to take a break from all the business of Hanoi. It is quieter here and more peaceful.

Remarks: Ticket bookings are also available online How to get there: You can reach the museum via bus numbers 8, 31, 36 or 49 or alternatively via taxi.
