It is the ideal place for families to start their forest adventure, with a family activity trail, Sculpture Trail, play area and Go Ape Tree Top Adventure. You can even bring your bikes and access the wider forest on the Family Cycle Trail. Don't forget to refuel in the café or bring your own food to enjoy in the beautiful picnic area. They also have bookable barbecues if you fancy cooking your own family feast.

Visit the sculpture trail, and other local walks. Popular cycle tracks through the woods, great visitors centre with food, children's play areas (for kiddies and a separate play area for older children), BBQs and open spaces.

Beechenhurst is the ideal place to begin exploring the Forest of Dean. It has facilities for refreshments and toilets, as well as tourist information. There is a cycle trail which begins here as well as the Sculpture Trail through the forest, which includes a huge stained glass window as well as numerous and varied sculptures often made of natural substances. Half a mile up the hill on the B4226 you will find Speech House, built in 1669 but now an hotel which welcomes you to stay for afternoon tea in the Verderer's Court (for the protection of vert and venison) - for 300 years .the former courtroom used for trials when the forest was essentially a self governing entity. It was built as a hunting lodge for King Charles the 2nd.
