Shopping

I love Pangaea for unique, eclectic gifts, which they are happy to giftwrap (beautifully) for free. It's a fun shop to look around in. And if you head to Pangaea, there are plenty of other little spots to walk to in this neighborhood.

I love Opry Mills because it has everything, it's conveniently located to the house, and the prices are affordable. I took my 7 year old niece here last year and she had a BLAST riding the motorized animals and jumping on the trampoline. There's also a Jillian's (like Dave & Buster's), and if you don't mind walking a little, you can walk over to the Opryland Hotel to see the atrium.

Drinks & Nightlife

Go to John A's for an "old Nashville" supper-club-like experience. It's one of 3 places in Nashville that I've seen serves French dressing. I've taken multiple out-of-town guests, from my grandparents to my sister. It's Always a hit! Great music, and a good meal. Very entertaining! If you plan on going, time your visit so you can the music.

If you LOVE country, bluegrass, or americana, I HIGHLY recommend checking out The Station Inn. It's a dive bar relic of another era, standing true while Nashville's Gulch bursts up all around it. Parking might be a challenge, so allow for a little time to find a spot. You'll want to check out the show timings ahead of time, and maybe go a little early to make sure you get tickets. I always walk out of The Station Inn with a warm heart.

Arts & Culture

The Frist is located inside a BEAUTIFUL Art Deco era building which originally served as Nashville's Post Office. If you get a chance to do the Architecture tour, I highly recommend it.

Parks & Nature

Radnor is a hidden gem. Get there early to get parking. And then enjoy a delightful walk around the lake where it is common to see wildlife such as deer, turtles, and waterfowl galore. Note: There are 2 entrances that do not join via a road for automobiles. (This is important to know if you are meeting friends.)

Food Scene

Crema is nationally recognized as a master in the Art & Science of coffee roasting and preparation. Crema really adds to the coffee community in this town. They are very generous in sharing their expertise with other coffee enthusiasts. They offer classes relating to coffee preparation. When the weather's nice, sit a spell on the lovely patio which has a great view of downtown and the river. My favorite thing to order at Crema is a Latte or Cortado and a Blueberry muffin. While you're there, you can also pick up a couple of chocolate bars from a local chocolatier: Olive and Sinclair. They make great souvenirs (as long as you don't let them melt!)
