Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill". Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. Tucked along a quiet dirt road, the cabin is ideally located 15 minutes from South Haven and 10 minutes from St. Joseph making it close enough for dining, shopping, and activities, yet far enough to unwind in nature’s calm.

Located above the area’s hottest new restaurant, this newly renovated 1BR/1BA urban loft features classic finishes - exposed brick, high ceilings, maple floors, and quartz countertops. Cozy, comfortable quarters directly above the Houndstooth restaurant provide a fantastic opportunity to get a “taste” of the Benton Harbor Arts District. Muffled sounds of music and activity from the restaurant below are often present in the loft during evening hours. Some guests may find this objectionable.

Our property is unique in that we have 9 vacation rental cottages on one acre. See all nine at www.airbnb.com/p/scc. These little cottages were built between the 1930s-50s and is one of the last properties of this type along Lake Michigan in this area. We have tried to keep the old charm while adding modern amenities.

Please note there is only one bathroom currently. 2 paddleboards for rent- beach is 2 miles away. Small dogs by approval only, with fee.
