Windy Hall is very special. High in the Cumbrian Pennines, it offers one of the finest views in England. Many guests just stay and enjoy the setting & seclusion, but we are also ideally placed for day trips to the Lake District, the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, Hadrian's Wall, and the castles & coasts of Northumberland. Limited access at the house means that apart from unloading, parking is a steep 240m from the house. But don't let this put you off; please just read our reviews!

Larriston Coach House is a large four-bedroomed cottage, part of a very rural 19th century farm steading on 28 acres, with 2,500 acres of hillside starting at the doorstep. It's right on the Scottish Border, close to Kielder and Newcastleton (both five miles away), and ideal for visiting Kielder observatory, Kielder Forest, the Borders or north Northumberland. There’s plenty of space, inside and out, including an enclosed sunny courtyard and undercover barbecue area with a suspended log fire.

The well-appointed kitchen can seat six, while the living room has two sofas in front of the multi-fuel stove. There is an enclosed private garden behind the cottage, with swings and a burn that runs through the woods across the courtyard. Deer, red squirrels, owls, badgers and hares live nearby, while the surrounding countryside is spectacular for walks and cycling.

We are near the Debatable Lands, Hadrian's Wall, Gretna, Kielder Forest and Carlisle.
