Bromans Barn is on Mersea Island beside a lovely Nature Reserve which rolls down to the sea where the seals bask. It is a romantic cottage for two with an elegant mix of ecological build and sympathetic historical renovation. Bromans is impressively spacious but also very cosy and relaxing. Being in the Nature Reserve, we cannot accept dogs or pets of any kind; sorry. We do not let to groups; we only let to families or two couples maximum. Absolutely no groups of more than four guests or parties of any kind. High tide sometimes cuts off the house so please be aware of this.

Located in the historic and picturesque Anchorage area of beautiful Mersea Island the house is in a quiet and tranquil lane, with the sea a moments distance away. 50 Yards at the end of the lane turn left for pubs and restaurants and turn right to find the sea wall, with opportunities for bird watching and scenic dog walks. The property sleeps 5/6 people and has an enclosed garden with seating and bbq, there is also a large lockable shed for any outdoor equipment.

A beautiful large farmhouse, dating from approximately 1600 and listed Grade II, in acres of idyllic gardens and overlooking a mile-wide river estuary. There is direct access from the bottom of the garden onto the ‘sea wall’ along the river, for walks and wonderful birdwatching. There is a duckpond (fenced) by the house and chickens (collect the eggs), and a large summerhouse with veranda in the garden, as well as a paddock of alpacas!
