When the Britishers were laying Kalka-Shimla rail, under the supervision of Colonel Barog, they hit a major hurdle where they were unable to align tunnels that was being dug from both sides. The British Government fined colonel Barog Rs. 1 for wasting government property and resources and to avoid further humiliation Col. Barog committed suicide. Baba Bhalku, a local villager, with his intuitive techniques helped the team align that specific tunnel and many others soon after. As of today the tunnel is named after Col. Barog and Kalka-Shimla railway is a UNESCO world heritage site. In 2001 a museum dedicated to Railways and works of Baba Bhalku was inaugurated.
